Ten joints for your autumnal pleasures. Wait, that sounds kinda erotic, I didn't mean it like that.

Tbh I personally listen to Bandcamp or what’s in my hard drive 99.9% of the time, but this is everyone’s excuse about leaving Spotify, it’s too difficult, etc. I mean is Apple any better, morally? Maybe?
They’re also running ICE recruitment ads.

It took me five minutes to transfer playlists to YouTube Music—and the sound is noticeably better too. You have no excuse.
Ah, yes. Music products. I think everyone can relate to that feeling of driving down the road, windows down, listening to music product.
Yeah this was that shit, was a great way to discover stuff in the pre-Rap Twitter/late blog era.
I think it’s the other way around though, Tom Waits had big muppet energy

Ah thanks man. Appreciate that.
I may have skipped a few to be fair, but the new one goes hard.
Agree, and he got really pissed at me on the other place for implying he’s been putting out mid for a while.

there’s no way to stop my singing in this world but to cut my throat. And when that’s done, ten to one I sing ye the doxology for a wind-up
Yeah you’re clearly super butt hurt about that above anything relevant to what I’m talking about. So enjoy your schadenfreude already while an AI takes your coding job or whatever.
Anthropic didn’t just torrent books. They destroyed a million physical books to scan them. Without permission or payment to the publishers or authors for using their work to feed the LLM.

Company hired Google’s book-scanning chief to cut up and digitize “all the books in the world.”…

This literally says pirated in the headline. This is the illegal use of my and my parent’s work with no permission or payment that I just said. Why are you defending these rapacious assholes?

Meta staff torrented nearly 82TB of pirated books for AI training — court records reveal copyright violations
Did they think they could get away with it?

I don’t pirate software and I don’t care to argue why the two things are simply not the same. It’s not a moral argument, they’re simply different scenarios entirely.

“Only a few” companies scraped millions of books and millions of people’s work?! Every major player in the market?!
