🌍 Big news on #WorldFoodDay!

GFI has partnered with Tufts University Center for Cellular Agriculture to make cultivated meat cell lines and serum-free media publicly available for researchers worldwide.

A leap forward for open science + alt protein innovation 🚀

Green background with white text: Breaking news. Cultivated cell lines freed up for use by entire sector. This move will save researchers years of R&D and millions in development costs.
While the pathway for commercial use is still pending, we anticipate being able to distribute to academic researchers soon. We encourage both academic and commercial entities interested in using the cells to join the wait list by filling out this form:

Very excited to share that @gfi.org acquired suspension-adapted bovine cell lines & serum-free media from former startup SciFi Foods to share as resource tools to advance the entire ecosystem

A huge level-up for #cultivatedmeat R&D

Encouraging to see the Indian government's Department of Biotechnology openly supporting the development of #cultivatedmeat 🇮🇳

One day we'll stop calling it lab-grown meat though🫠

Finished @mikegrunwald.bsky.social's book, which shows the urgency to develop solutions to address agriculture's climate problem

It highlights the overlooked concept of carbon opportunity costs of land use & isn't afraid to say that grass-fed beef is a climate disaster. Recommended read!

I believe the concept involves more of a collective effort for all the supply chain elements. Not everything could or would be done on-site.

IDK, the Dutch seem to be pretty good at making food lol. Lots of concepts being tested throughout the industry. Gotta figure out what works/is possible.
The video on their website has a bit more for what is envisioned

It does assume that CM processes can be "tech transferred" in a way that is very low friction. And that we can readily use feedstocks grown on typical farms

Those assumptions can certainly be debated
