I love looking at the deep dive numbers later on so I can wonder what the heck my neighbors were thinking. If I only actually knew anyone (okay, I know one or two) in my township of 300 I might be able to narrow it down.
1970, the highest bracket was 70%. That's a little north of $270 billion. Feeding hungry folks, student loan forgiveness, and start shoring up social security! Or whatever else you want to spend it on INSTEAD OF TRYING TO GET SERIAL SEXUAL HARASSERS ELECTED.

what a nice idea.
(big voice) IN THE YEAR 2000 the highest tax bracket was 40%. That would net us $155 billion. You could feed hungry folks AND pay off some student loans. Let's not stop there!
Obviously what I'd enjoy more is seeing all those folks taxed more. Let's see, the total net worth on that list is 388 BILLION dollars.

If we yoinked 10% off the top, that's 38 billion. That should feed some hungry folks.
There is nothing that warms my heart more than seeing billionaires throw their money away.

Just a bit of advice, folks would like billionaires a lot more if they took that (does addition) a little more than $22.6 million dollars and fill food banks, fund libraries, or pay their employees.
No elections for me in rural MN, but if you have elections, go vote!

Did they remove everything but the, (credit to Joe Bob Briggs) I kid you not, 20 minutes of the Enterprise, flying through a cloud?

Bohemian Rhapsody (Amicus, 1975):
Portmanteau horror: three crucial musicians at the State Opera in Prague for a performance of the titular piece find themselves locked in the boiler room with the boilerman and tell ghost stories to pass the time until their absence is noticed.
Creek goes straight for a closet and digs to the back where he finds the duffel coat he had worn in all the previous episodes.

IF it were up to me...when he pulls out the coat, I would have had Danse Macabre start playing instead of the jaunty bouncy mischievous music they use, which doesn't fit.
He gets Polly out the door to the airport and goes back inside the house.

-a brief interlude-
We have a HUGE missed opportunity. If you don't know, the theme music for Jonathan Creek is Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns. Anywho...
-back to the show-
Creek follows the story, the woman who was his partner in crime solving for the last few specials is investigating, but Creek says he's not interested.

Polly gets a phone call. She has to go to New York for the weekend. Poor Creek, what will he do to keep himself busy while she's away?
I'm watching Jonathan Creek and I've made it to the 2013 special. It's been 3 years since the last episode, Creek has married a woman named Polly (played by Sarah Alexander). He's got out of the magic business at her urging and he now does business.

And then a weird murder happens!
I used to live on a VERY busy Halloween street, we'd get anywhere from 500-1000 kids.

We moved to just outside of the same town, so now we get zero

I think I worked it out that if we stayed in this house 1000 years the savings in candy would pay for the house. Of course, I didn't count inflation
They can pry the following firehouse out of my cold dead hands. That's the only feed I use regularly, except for the occasional foray into "What's REALLY Hot!" if I'm REALLY bored.

Checking that out always confirms my choice to only use the "Following" tab.
Ah yes. I remember John Kerry and Rick Perry wearing BRAND SPANKING NEW CARHARTT JACKETS and being disgusted. My snarky thought was, "If you had thought ahead, you could have paid someone to scuff that up a bit before you wore it."
Is that available now or is a future release? I ask because it's not on the website at all.
The publishers are using plausible deniability because while Edda is wearing her school uniform she's done that before as an adult and Brooke is using their adult faces/hair instead of the way they actually looked in the early strips.
Even if he waved a magic wand and all the government fraud were to end tomorrow, every single GOP TV/radio ad, robocall, and piece of junk mail they put out will have "WALZ GAVE MONEY THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FEED YOUR KIDS TO FRAUDSTERS WHO MIGHT BE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!" on them
He thinks he's forced to do this because he's running again.

Sadly, because of Feeding Our Future and other recent government frauds, he thinks if he just lets it go he'll get hammered.

Not understanding that no matter what he does, to the GOP, he looks like a nail.
My god.

As a longtime denizen of the graveyard shift back in the 90s (a few years at a SuperAmerica and a few years at a Cub Foods, both in the north suburbs of the Twin Cities) this hits me right in my past. Oof.

Pity I can't vote for him since, you know, I live in Minnesota.
For New Yorkers who work the night shift, it can be nearly impossible to participate in political life of our city.

So tonight we’re bringing this campaign to them — starting with taxi drivers waiting at LaGuardia.
