Back on Twitter there was a guy, probably one of the various YIMBY Jo(h)ns who I got into it with because I went on a tear about how tracking (splitting K-12 student populations into remedial, normal, and advanced classes) is Bad, Actually and he was very concerned about his children being Held Back

Mamdani is a normal guy and I don’t begrudge anyone who thinks he seems young to be mayor of NYC but deranged is really the only way I can think to describe anyone who is concerned he could possibly cause a fraction of the harm of his predecessor or opponents.

Amid all the plaudits of Trump for getting this deal done, I've yet to see mention of the fact that Netanyahu has turned the Israeli govt into an arm of the Republican Party and manages relations with the US administration in power at any given time accordingly.

Someone I know irl said they wish Mamdani had been more vague about elementary school gifted programs and I had to explain that a key to his popularity is that he’s takes a position rather than be deliberately opaque in service of an imaginary broad appeal.

the reason many jews, including non- and anti-zionists, are upset by this meme is because it relies on an older antisemitic trope about jews being a parasitic race with no culture of our own. but a consequence of diaspora is that our culture has always been enmeshed with the societies we live in.
