Important and timely visit by the Palestine Red Crescent Society this week. Leadership from PRCS were able to brief Member States, including those on the Security Council, on the current situation in Palestine and the recent killing of 8 PRCS humanitarians. #notatarget
Three years since the escalation of the conflict, people in Ukraine and the millions displaced are enduring unimaginable hardship.

Whether providing urgent aid, shelter, or long-term support, the @ifrc.org network remains committed to assisting people in Ukraine and beyond.
Cyclones hit Bangladesh every year.

That’s why the Bangladesh Red Crescent is working to strengthen disaster preparedness in all 33 of its camps in Cox’s Bazar.

This structure is just one example of how they prevent landslides, saving countless lives when a storm hits.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society operates 12 health facilities in #CoxsBazar to help thousands of displaced persons stay alive and healthy.

As people continue to arrive, field hospitals like the one I visited will continue to play a vital role in providing essential healthcare.
Last week, I saw firsthand how the Bangladesh Red Crescent
provides life-saving aid to over 1 mill. displaced persons in #CoxsBazar – & heard about urgent needs.

I’m eager to share all I learned w/ Member States @UN as we head towards the Int’l Conference on the situation of the Rohingya this year.
It was a pleasure to discuss the meaning & importance of Humanitarian Diplomacy on the newest episode of

Disasters are not inevitable – in fact, they are avoidable.

At today’s @UNDRR #FFD4 event, we called on Member States to re-think the approach to disaster risk reduction.

We must strengthen policy measures and funding for risk assessments and early warning/action systems.
It’s crucial we continue to uplift the voices of local humanitarian workers, like Dr. Hanna Kaade with the German Red Cross.

His call to action at the UN General Assembly:

“Let’s work together to ensure doctors don’t have to choose between saving a life and risking their own.”
Attended a critical event with @icrc.org & @tomfletcherun.bsky.social today: "Preserving Human Dignity in Armed Conflict: Promoting Compliance with #IHL."

It's vital that Member States translate words into actions. Protecting civilians, including humanitarians, is a legal & moral obligation.
20 years after the devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami claimed 230,000 lives, natural disasters still loom large.

From #disasterlaws to #earlywarningsystems, if we prepare and coordinate at all levels, future hazards won't have to become global tragedies.
As the world’s largest humanitarian network, IFRC stands in solidarity with all people in need on #HumanSolidarityDay.

From health services to disaster response, our National Red Cross & Red Crescent Society members serve their own communities with pride & dignity every day.
No human should suffer death, injury or mistreatment while seeking safety or a more dignified life in a different country or community.

Saving lives, including through coordinated international efforts on search and rescue, is a humanitarian imperative. #MigrantsDay
Neutrality is a fundamental principle for the Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement - one that allows us to maintain the trust we need to aid all who need it.

This #NeutralityDay, we reiterate our commitment to neutrality & encourage dialogues that advance peace & preserve lives.
On #HumanRightsDay and every day, we must commit to protecting the lives & dignity of all people - including the humanitarians delivering life-saving aid across the world.

#ProtectHumanity #NotATarget
Global humanitarian decision-making must meaningfully include the voices of local humanitarians.

Pleased to welcome my Sudanese Red Crescent Society & Lebanese Red Cross colleagues to the UN this week as we urge Member States to take concrete action to save lives.
Even one life lost is too many.

Today at the UN, @theifrc.bsky.social unveiled the Protect Humanity exhibit to honour the 32 RC/RC Society members killed in the line of duty this year - & call on Member States to halt humanitarian attacks & respect humanitarian principles.
