I got a computer in the early 90s with 40MB of HD space and my buddy confidently stated that no-one is EVER going to need more than 40MB.

I’ve been lax updating recent reads (work was MAD so only 4 books over 6 weeks). First 2 were sci-fi, both average-to-good; second 2 were old classics, both of which were made into movies & both of which get 5 stars from me. Deliverance, in particular, is a cracking read. #books, #reading, #booksky

We all need a whole lot more gargalesis in our lives. I know I do.

It's weird when you get to the point where you realize that religions are literally just myths that some people still believe in--no more or less rooted in the real than old stories of Zeus or Odin.

Haven't seen ski-masks advertised in a while, now you mention it.

Commercials during horror movies should only be for scary things, like knives or ski masks or tentacles.

Always amazed that the guy with no beard is actually called Frank Beard.

Love that movie. I've been playing with a writing idea for a few years that has Max Schreck get kidnapped by aliens on the night of the premiere at the zoological gardens in Berlin.

I'm glad to have Monday off for the holiday. I have some work to do anyway but at least I can do it at my own pace in my own time. And now that we have AI, I can say: "Part man, part machine, all sales enablement architect."

At this point, like Hobbes, I'm kind of relying on the aliens to save us.

I have an old couch in the basement that Sooshi is allowed to scratch away at. Gotta love #cats.

They came for the Italian beef sandwiches and the hot dogs, and all the other yummy stuff that makes Chicago famous (if anybody will serve them, of course).

One for Michael Caine fans who also like a bit of #lovecraft.

If current politicians were required to display the branding of the corporations that own them, you’d see that this is already the case (though I take the point about the honesty).

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

I’ve read Billy Summers and all the Slow Horses books. I have Chandler’s The Big Sleep but haven’t read it. Currently reading James Dickey’s Deliverance (fantastic).

I realize now I'm #older and a little bit #wiser that, in each and every instance where I've ever offended another person in a conversation (and there have admittedly been a few), it was a clear case of my MOUTH saying something and then the other person--AND ME--immediately thinking "WTF, man?"
