Loggerhead Shrikes are birds without borders ranging from Canada to Mexico. These songbirds feed on insects, spiders, lizards, frogs, small rodents, bats, small birds, and are even known to eat venomous snakes!

Nice! It’s enjoyable to take some time out to watch these busy little birds. Mostly, we have the Pygmy Nuthatches but sometimes we have the slightly larger, Red -breasted and White-breasted ones migrating through. (Worldwide, there’s over 40 different subspecies)

Solidarity - humans need take note. Over 150 Pygmy Nuthatches will huddle together in a single tree cavity during cold nights. They're also the only bird that forages upside down.

This may be a common bird on the east coast, but it's quite rare on the west coast. They're beautiful migrants that winter in Mexico, and all over parts of Central America. Migrants are welcome!
