I cried a lot during your show today and only part of it was due to forgetting to take my meds yesterday. 😵‍💫 Mostly it was because your music and message were so great and I felt so grateful to get to enjoy them.

The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

This is Eleanor Roosevelt whom we had for only two years, but they were the best two years of her rather unhappy life if my guess is right. Giving love to a cat who's had a hard time is a beautiful thing. She also went fast, full of cancer. Love to Winry, and Fergus, and all cat owners.

KEXP's sound engineers are top of the industry. I envy folks who got the "vinyl club" membership this fund drive - one record a month, with a different Live Room session pressed on each side. I bet those are going to be stunning.

José Chung's should be taught in every class on narrative writing, and I have even fantasized about showing it to family therapy students in training because of how well it illustrates "people are gonna have some pretty different stories about how things 'really' went."

KEXP regularly plays L7, Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney (old and new), X-Ray Spex, Blondie, Neko Case, Fiona Apple, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill, Amyl & the Sniffers, Wet Leg, Thunderpussy... like that's women across 5+ decades just off the top of my head, mostly from Morning Show.

I don't understand people who say KEXP is a Gen X station. I can go into the playlist of nearly any Morning Show and pull a set of 3-5 songs released in the past 6-12 months without even trying hard.

But also there's no excuse re: the sausage fest that is some male music fans.
