Remedios Varo :
Woman Leaving Psychoanalyst Office, 1960
1961
Varo painted all of her characters with her own features: almond shaped eyes and an aquiline nose. We can safely assume that this is a self-portrait. Varo is seen leaving a psychologist’s office. The name on the door reads Dr. F.J.A, which stands for Freud, Jung, and Adler. She deposits the head of her father in a small well in the courtyard, which Varo states is “the correct thing to so when leaving the psychoanalyst.” One of the green veils covering her face begins to drop, however, there are more covering her mouth, still rendering her unable to speak. The basket she holds contains more “psychological waste” that she will hold on to till the next visit.

Sadly, we don’t teach Reconstruction enough!! So many folks remain oblivious to where this country is headed. Buckle up! It won’t be pretty.
