About 12 months ago I was on a flight that was delayed that Omid Djalili was also on. He was a right prick to the airline staff and performatively stomped around departures like a brat. I'm sure he's a cracking feller with great values.
wherefore the acid analgypta of yesteryear, though? DMT vapes in private-equity-owned student rabbit-hutches just doesn't land the same way
genuinely batshit how much traction he has for a handful of addled essays that aggressively misread the already demented wing of european philosophy, followed up by exile in china and a pivot to racism in some blogposts.
A focus group of Bartlebys.
I’d like to set up an SF prophecy index. Anyone got the coding skills? Which writer gets the most predictive hits. I mean obviously I’m biased but the premise of Ballard’s Kingdom Come is essentially the “soft fascist” flag proliferation seen in the UK over the last week.

[photo of a white mini roundabout with a red cross painted over the top by a radicalised nationalist fool of a Brummie. Except there are some additional lines added for the joke]]

Adding two well placed, straight red lines to "patriots"; graffiti already on traffic islands creates your very own Dead Kennedys tribute.

As Victor Lewis-Smith said of Chris Morris (somewhat unfairly): "Imitation is the sincerest form of being an unoriginal thieving bastard"

You know what, I’m really glad I subscribed to @thefence.bsky.social earlier this year

It does feel somewhat tailor made for my demographic - millennials of a certain age - and in that it reminds me of what made Vice so fresh in its early days, but without the bullshit (I say this as a compliment)
Cover of the latest edition of The Fence
Saw these up in York, then taken down the following day. Seems like a pretty straightforwardly stalking horse strategy, designed to intensify division and further blur the lines between patriotism and xenophobia.
Amazing. That's like the Phoebe Gloeckner illustrations for the Re/Search Atrocity. Wonder if she got the style from Magritte? I'm currently researching in Civil War surgery text books - feels like doing 17thC Ballard Crash Injuries!
Love this thread. Been meaning to get to the Magritte museum for ages. Magritte is the total boss. And yes on moules frites and strong beer. Quality.

Back from hols and chuckling to myself as I listen to the most recent episode of OFFAL, free to air at our Steady page: steady.page/en/offal/pos... (one of my daughters recently told someone that if she sees me laughing, she knows I'm listening to my own stuff - oh god, that's bad - but this is ACE)

@thefence.bsky.social goes to Provence to be next to Leicester Square (after Monet). I trust that this offering will not be out-pretentioned this month.
