DevEx Enthusiast and Microsoft MVP for Dev Tools
Posts Media Videos Starter Packs
It has been a tough few months for me outside of my professional life, but tonight I got an email that helped things feel better. I'm excited and honoured to announce that I've been renewed into the Microsoft MVP program for a second year. I've also been added to the DevOps category :)
Airport breakfast, on the way to San Diego #DevOpsCon! Looking forward to speaking about Platform Engineering and Developer Experience. #mvpbuzz

Today brought back a lot of bad memories.

My support goes out to those affected. I know it hurts now, but this is not a reflection on your worth. You will bounce back.

If you need support, want to vent, or try to figure out what's next, please contact me directly. I'm here for you.
Start of a big day, 2 Global Azure talks and then helping out at a hackathon after

I had such an amazing time at #NDCMelbourne this year, between presenting my own talk and catching some more amazing sessions I totally forgot to take any photos.

Thanks to the @ndcconferences.com crew for running a great event!
I'm also having a good result with Claude 3.7 but have found the newer OpenAI models are struggling to follow instructions in agent mode, they often respond like they are in ask mode then you have to prompt them to actually do something.
I think you might have caused the pages to be out of order by observing the system, check again later, it might have changed 😛
Yeah I've been using it a bit and you definitely need to give it a clear end goal and even provide context on what kind of things it should and shouldn't do. Won't replace a good engineer but will let someone who can clearly define the problem offload a task to AI.
On the way home from #MVPSummit. It has been an amazing week but also pretty overwhelming. Glad I got to catch up with fellow MVPs and the teams at Microsoft. Now to just get through this 15 hour flight then sleep for 24 hours.
All checked in for day one (well technically pre-day one)
Ok now in Seattle, and it's raining and cold ... This is amazing! just like winter in Melbourne (my favorite time of year). Though the surge pricing on the uber put a dampener on that, but you can't win them all. Now it's time to fall into a coma after 24 hours of travel.
Just finished my long haul, wasn't the best, power issues with the seat power, glitches with the entertainment system and a fair bit of turbulence half way through. The flight attendants were great though. Now just waiting for the flight to Seattle.
Breakfast before the big flight to MVP Summit, so excited for the week to come! #mvpbuzz
I've been trying to get back to streaming this year but it has been hard. Was diagnosed with ADHD recently so been going on that journey which takes a lot of the time I would use to stream. Still trying to share blogs and do talks as that is why I share things, to help uplift and educate others.
But it just feels secure, you know what I mean?
Awesome I'll be there as well :)
Looking forward to Green Day tonight 😎
So it's been a slow start to the year for me but finally starting to get some things moving, first off it's a new blog page.

I wanted to rebrand a bit from the dmcasaservice to Dylan DevEx, as it's a bit closer to what I talk about.

Happy new year everyone, wishing for a great 2025 for all
Have been giving multiple internal sessions at work on Microsoft DevBox and how we can use IaC to not only deploy the service but also do image customisation. Most stuff is positive but man I cannot wait until the new custom image creation options are in, using AIB is a pain.

I'm going to be speaking at NDC Melbourne 2025, where I'll be talking about Cloud-Native Platform Engineering on #Azure! If you're a Platform Engineer looking to build scalable, sustainable, and enjoyable experiences for your developers on Azure, I'll see you there! ndcmelbourne.com/slots/cloud-...
Well looks like my trip to Singapore has ended on a slightly down note, caught COVID-19 on the way back. I think I'm going to need to get some more comfortable masks to wear while travelling more.
