You’d better hope you’re wrong. You seem a lot more energized to fight Democrats than Trump. You go on being you, and the rest of us will try and clean up this mess.
To hear you tell it, the Dems were as bad as the GOP, so voters acted rationally when they stayed home and gave the keys back to Trump. I don’t buy that. The Dems aren’t perfect. We agree on almost nothing. (Biden was also wrong about Gaza). But even at our worst we’re better than Trump.
It’s not my job to “get them back”. A lot of our people took their eyes off the ball in 2024, deciding they were more upset about Gaza and egg prices than stopping Trump and the GOP. So here we are. If they want to do that again next year, it’s their right to do so.
Trump and the GOP are not popular. All the polls show it. If our people turn out this time — many of our people stayed home last time — we will get the House back. If Trump tries to cancel the elections, he will fail, but we’ll deal with that if/when it happens. VOTE!
We need to assume the 2026 elections are on, and that our side will need overwhelming numbers to turn out to win them. If that assumption turns out to be wrong, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. VOTE!
We have done this in the past. The cameras were turned off, but it got some press. As long as everyone understands that Dems cannot (constitutionally) seize control of the House when the voters awarded it to the GOP in the last election. If we want real control, we need to win the 2026 elections.
No. Read Article I, section 5 of the Constitution.
The reality is that the voters — including all the eligible Dem voters who decided to skip the 2024 elections — gave the House to the Republicans and the Constitution doesn’t allow the minority party to run it. Please read article I, section 5 of the Constitution before blaming the Dems.
The Speaker controls the House cameras. Dems could show up, but no one in the outside would see it on CSPAN. As you say, because the Dems wouldn’t have the required 218 quorum needed to conduct business, their votes would not have any force of law.
Unfortunately, the rules of the House don’t allow this. In order to conduct any business, you need 218 Members present and voting. Likewise, you need 218 votes to elect a new speaker.
The Speaker (in this case, Mike Johnson) controls the cameras in the House. Dems could show up on the Floor, but no one would see it.
The quorum requirement in the House needed to conduct business is 218, so some GOP members would need to join with all 213 Democrats. The House GOP is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Donald Trump.

I’m less concerned about part of the White House being torn down, and more concerned about the fact that it’s being replaced with a $250m privately funded ballroom. I don’t think people who intend to leave office in 3 years typically spend a quarter of a billon on a 4 year construction project.
The Trump Administration discovered that some people are still coming to the U.S. to spend money here on vacations. This is another step to cut that money off before it gets anywhere near the U.S. economy!

People ask what they can do in this moment: here's a crucially important election. There are 52,000 elections taking place next month, many of which will be determined by turnout.
How could Trump (or anyone) know whether prices are trending up or down? The Administration shut down the Bureau of Labor Statistics so it didn’t release the last inflation numbers.
Due to the shutdown, the Trump Administration has decided that the Bureau of Labor Statistics won’t be publishing the jobless claims report or the consumer price index (inflation). So investors are flying blind right now. However, work will continue on the new White House ballroom.

Trump and Republicans behaving badly? Focus on Democrats for not doing enough!
