I cried when I read this article last month because it resonated with my experience of institutional power and its indifference to suffering that is part of its design. It is an interesting way of modeling and understanding systemic abuse and its pervasiveness.

The real work towards freedom has been unlearning everything I was taught and fighting for truth. I see parallels. You speak of a current crisis. Its roots run much deeper. These actions might take us somewhere, but we should keep our eyes open.

I was sex trafficked since I was a toddler and raised in an abusive cult. "We take what we can get" has meant seeking a way out no matter the cost and often falling into relationships with abusers who were happy to collaborate with the cult for profit or who treated me as subhuman all on their own.

You misunderstand me. I'm not sure why you went to biological imperative, which was not my meaning. Racism has not gone away as much as people would like to believe. It was more hidden for a time and gains were made but the infection was already there.

Some of the girlfriends even participated when invited to beat me. Actually all of it was super fucked up and this post barely scratches the surface.

The most fucked up part was I was used to the violence, from childhood. And maybe that they made their girlfriends allow it and watch bc they had that much social capital and also threatened them like you don't want to end up where she is. (Oh yeah, these were popular, well-liked guys.)

They put on abusive shows for their buddies and girlfriends, sometimes with neo-nazi regalia and speeches to demonstrate their masculinity and white superiority over a POC. He enjoyed dehumanizing me and making me think he was going to kill me. I didn't think I’d make it sometimes.

When I was a teenager, I was repeatedly kidnapped, drugged, gangraped, beaten, and tortured by a group of older men 18-25 led by a neo-nazi. In the US. They treated me worse than an animal and trafficked me.

rape and murder and torture and experience it, and nobody cares and nowhere is safe. But I think people should face the truth about this area. Rampant racism, much of it structural, lots of trafficking, organized crime, and corruption.

The cops were rapists and white supremacists and clients of the cult. Other adults didn't want to get involved or didn't believe me or were complicit or abusers in their own right. I don't necessarily want to share this because I don't think a lot of people know what it is like to witness

and the perpetrators were a group of large men. I didn't tell anyone. Who would I tell? Nobody cared about nonwhite female youth except to stick things in their orifices and punish them for existing and trying to be a person. Nobody cared to help me out of the hellscape I was living in.

I spent years as a child in a sundown town in that area. Aside from casual racism we experienced on a daily basis and in class while teachers laughed or joined in… as a teen runaway, I accidentally witnessed a lynching in the woods outside of town. It was the dead of night

I will share two things from my personal experience that demonstrate that racism has been flourishing this whole time. We have to recognize the problem before solutions can be found.

Or maybe when they think nobody is looking. Or merely look away from. We can't keep pretending they don't exist or that we've outgrown them. When the ugly head of the infection erupts, as it is starting to, why do people act surprised?

I have encountered mostly white people who gush about how great the Chicago suburbs are and what a dreamy place it was for them or others growing up. Wow. What I remember is a lot of racism and abuse.

These things that people live alongside and support directly or indirectly.

Kimmel got support bc he is the "friendly" Everyman white guy you see endless variations of in almost anything you watch. Always the friendly one, or the underdog, or rational, or what have you. And who is often used as a foil against female characters especially of color.

There's a surplus of undesired people and food/natural resources have been depleted in some areas of the world. People are another resource to be managed and depleted. Death is not off the table. Maybe not for all, or even as collateral damage, I wouldn't underestimate things.

Maybe there is a legitimate or other reason they cannot remove ICE from their business. But who knows if we bury our heads?

Thing is, the problem runs much deeper than the poisoned arrow. How can you get the poison out if you keep ingesting it happily? And if the doctor might be helping the attackers, should we try to ignore that info without a thought?

We should ask questions. You are mistakenly equating truth with armchair philosophy. Nobody is saying to ask inane questions, but pertinent ones apply.

We should not blind ourselves in order to idealize someone. Especially an elected official who should be transparent about these things. Not calling out issues for fear of whatever - that is Trump's game.

What divides us is not facing the truth and deceiving ourselves and wondering how we got here. The false binary is what divides us. Recognizing truth is antithetical to that. But reality is not always pretty.
