Father currently shows more emotion, due to only having Envy as a homunculus. The others will return in due time. Even he has to scour the multiverse to make them. 👁 A http://Jellybean 👁

Looking up from the notes he was taking, he closed the book and set it aside.

“Envy.” He greeted, “how kind." Even if unnecessary.

He had a feeling there was something needing to be discussed.
Father's little hideaway hadn't changed much; it was still nothing to look at, the only difference was that the throne had changed to a bed that still showed signs of Majora's preferences. The homunculus didn't think much of the world around him enough to change his setting yet.

That reply felt lacking.

Maybe I'm just hungry
He knew Majora wouldn’t make the same mistake he had with Hohenheim, but it was something he had come to deeply regret as of late. What if he had treated Hohenheim as an equal? What would that life have been like, would Hohenheim have helped him reach the same power without sacrifice?
Majora had caught his arrogance and lust for power before it could become his obsession again and had given him the same chance as Envy.

“Keep them close,” Father said quietly.
Majora’s apology and talk of change held his attention. The idea that something born of chaos and cruelty could grow was interesting; it made him reflect on his own evolution. Even without the chaos stone, he had changed.
“Essentially, they all use matter from the other side. Be it souls or the essence of the Gate of Truth.” His creation had been a mistake; the others, at least, had purpose. The thought made him frown, but he brushed it aside. He existed without the need of alchemy now.
The thought of Envy having a friend drew a faint smile from Father; he was genuinely pleased for them. In truth, it was remarkable how well Envy and Majora connected. They were alike; which meant, perhaps, he and Majora were too.
Ah, yes the disappointment has returned.

How lovely.
"No one expected the consequences to be so severe. Besides Envy is your friend, are they not?"
Father didn't think Majora needed to feel bad, Envy was their priority, after all, as it was them who took the stone. And for all the deity knew, he was a "normal" homunculi.
After my death, I was returned to the Gate. There, I was reminded of what I should have been, and given a second chance; one I still do not fully understand. Regardless, I believe that stone is interfering with my core balance."

He paused, looking at the deity.
My nature may have been corrupted by Hohenheim’s blood in my creation. I was no longer pure, I was forced into existence. Into this flask. It was blasphemous, as all abominations are." Father's words are purely factual; explaining why the stone may cause problems for him.
“That stone might not have posed a problem initially. At the time, I was so far detached from my origin that it would have made little difference. I was not created as they were. I am the essence of a neutral being called the Truth.
I told them what I expected of them, what Sins they embodied, but I did not expect them to remain confined to that concept. That would have been hypocritical.”

Father added, creating a small clear flask filled with black fluid. It was not meant to be drunk, it was just a display.
Blood, souls, and feeling alone don’t make a being. The emotion cannot anchor itself; the will to 𝘣𝘦 that emotion would suffice. I designed them to take what I believed I could not contain.
His eyes narrowed thoughtfully as he listened to Majora. That explained his instability.

“A chaos stone,” he repeated, filing that away for later as his focus shifted to Envy.

“As I told Envy, if they were just a singular emotion, they would not exist.
“I was unaware that any drastic change would affect me. What did you give him?” Perhaps he'll tell him the theory. Now he was more curious than anything.
He had indirectly messed with what the Truth had been trying to do. What a maddeningly fascinating prospect.

But to his own surprise, he wasn’t angry with Majora. Not even a show of rage.
He laughed, low and quiet, with no trace of mania.
Was this the result of that experiment? Would it add to the complications of what the Truth had done to him? It made sense: the order of equivalent exchange clashing against the chaos of Majora’s interference.
“What happened?” The homunculus’ voice was cold and measured; he made sure it wouldn't betray him the way his eyes had.

What happened to Envy. What happened when he blacked out, he didn't remember.
What was it about this damn deity that got under his skin so much?

Another shift came, deeper this time. Raw, and painfully vulnerable. When he opened his eyes again, he blinked once, twice, struggling for balance before speaking.
Something in him shifted; a violent, emotional part of him that didn’t want answers from Majora. It was a childish defiance that mocked his logic. The red flicker in his eyes betrayed it, but instead of acting, Father closed them in restraint.
