Shutdown blame is shared. Agencies posting partisan messages like “Democrats did this” risk violating the Hatch Act. Public comms should be neutral. I urge leadership to review how these messages were approved and commit to fairness, transparency and public trust.

Dems fund border patrol & enforcement. Many immigrants seek asylum, which is legal. “Wide open border” rhetoric came from Trump & allies, not Dems. That message fueled surges. Fixing immigration law makes more sense than spending billions on mass detention & fear-based tactics.
Four government shutdowns have occurred during Trump's presidency: Jan 20–22, 2018: three-day shutdown Feb 9, 2018: very brief, one-day shutdown (or about nine hours) Dec 22, 2018 – Jan 25, 2019: longest gov't shutdown in US history, lasting 35 days Oct 1, 2025 – ongoing and entered its 18th day
Most House GOP haven’t shown up for work since 9/19 but passed a CR with cuts like to Medicaid & now blames Dems for not rubber-stamping it. Dems oppose the policy, not keeping govt open. If GOP controls all branches & pushes a bill they KNOW won’t pass, they’re choosing shutdown over compromise.

"GOP leaders have misleadingly said that Dems “demand we fund healthcare for illegal aliens.” The Dems have proposed restoring health care for “lawfully present” immigrants, but not for immigrants living in the country illegally, who are prohibited by law from receiving federally funded coverage."
