🇫🇷 French cover of Wilson Simonal’s “Nem Vem Que Não Tem”.

Full of cheeky energy and dancefloor-friendly vibes. A record that’s still easy to find, yet somehow remains under the radar.

🇨🇿🇧🇷 A Czechoslovak cover of Roberto Carlos’ Jesus Cristo – pressed on a rare 7-inch back in 1971.

This gem, Helena Vondráčková – Archiméde, is our new Record of the Week. Hard to find today, it’s a perfect example of how global hits were reimagined behind the Iron Curtain.

The Alchemist fans, here’s one for you 🎶

This 1974 track by Sofia Rotaru – Numai Tu – carries the hypnotic groove he later sampled.

I found this record at a flea market in Prague, and the deep bassline instantly stood out. A true digger’s delight and a Record of the Week.

This week’s pick is a Slovak cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle” — transformed into “Týždeň Po Svadbe” by Eva Kostolányiová. Instead of raw Southern soul, you get a lush orchestral pop arrangement with a completely different vibe.

I love digging for obscure Eastern European grooves and samples — and this one’s a gem. ❤️

Gerd Michaelis Chor – Es Bleibt Die Sonne (1974) delivers rich harmonies, and a sample just waiting to be flipped… and a killer groove if you’re cool with the German vocals. 😁

🎧 If you only heard her voice, you'd never guess she's a white singer from 1970s Austria.

That’s what Hansjörg from Record Shack said — and he’s right.

At first, I picked up this album by Butch Cassidy Sound System for its cover of Cissy Strut, but what really won me over was a deep, heavyweight dub rhythms.

🇧🇷 Brazil, 1974. A funk-infused samba groove that feels like it was made for the dancefloor — or a b-boy battle.

🎶 Jair Rodrigues – Deixa Isso Pra Lá (from the album 10 Anos Depois)
I first heard this version thanks to DJ Nuts and his mixtape Cultura Copia.

🇨🇿 This 70s Czech groove makes b-boys turn their heads.

Funny story: when I first met Wax D from the UK crew Second to None, he asked me where I was from. As soon as I said "Czech Republic," he went, "man, I need some Rottrova breaks." Enough said.
