but when I hear horror stories about the church, it always brings up my own encounter with religious fanatics. I tried talking to the youth counselor. I told him how I felt different/gay but he just brushed it off! That is until I ran away, then they hunted me down like a wild animal.

If you are not one of them, you are ostracized from the church. What happened to Native Americans was the worst of the worst and in most cases everything was taken from them, they were beaten, abused and forced to submit! Generations have been traumatized! This should have been my first response

Because of the way the church treated me, beating me until I was unconscious and calling it an exorcism. I saw the light and first I ran away but after I told my mom what they had done to me, she said go live your life, be careful and let me know that you are alright. I was 15, 50 some years ago!

I'm not making excuses, I was enlightening you about history and how the drinking started. First you say that no-one is forcing them to drink and then you turn around and say that they have quit drinking because it is harming them. You speak with a forked tongue and I'm not your friend!

There could be SO much good done for the people in America if only the wealthy and corporations would pay their fair share! If these people lost their money they wouldn't be able to survive in this world, they would breakdown.

Before white men Native Americans didn't have a problem with alcohol. They used some weakly fermented home brews for ritual ceremonies. Alcohol misuse was rare. European colonizers introduced high-proof alcohol, they used it for trade and diplomacy and modeled excessive drinking
