I was a Reason Party voter prior to their disappearance and am on the lookout for a replacement. The Greens are not that. I was fine with them when they were an environmentally-focussed group... now they're a bunch of unrealistic idealogues.
I still think they're preferable to the other mob... but Labor are frustrating me. Their approach to FOI is awful.

We just needed them to be "not shit" and they're failing.

It's a shame the Greens have made themselves irrelevant, otherwise the ALP would have to pay more attention to their voters.

Shreddy Krueger - The Grieving

From the ashes of Secret & Whisper rose this terribly-named band that produced some really good post-hardcore.

Avoid the re-issue of the album... I don't think it sounds great at all.

Sugar Horse - The Grand Scheme of Things

In their own words this album is a "sidestep" from their usual output, but for whatever reason this English band produced a pretty accessible post-hardcore album.

JADE - The Pacification of Death

An international collective of artists from multiple projects come together to create a progressive, atmospheric death/doom album that is definitely worth a listen.

This reminds me of the choice between "balance" and "neutrality" in reporting. I would always select the latter and argue that the former would often give more weight to one side of the discussion than is warranted.

Autumn Nostalgie - Metanoia

Slovakian post-black/blackgaze band that I only recently came across and am yet to explore their back catalogue. But I really like the atmosphere on this album so I will go back at some point.

It's quite juvenile, but I still associate the word "shelved" with something one does with suppositories.

Therefore I read headlines like this with a smile.

This is my 15 minute documentary about how AI is turbocharging enshittification.

Or maybe it's just a Public Service Announcement for anyone seeing ads for AI-generated β€œeducational” apps: be warned - they are slop at best, scams at worst.

Times of Grace - The Hymn of a Broken Man

A side project of two of the guys from Killswitch Engage. It's metalcore, but more melodic.

This is an excellent album - energetic, emotional, catchy. Their follow-up... not so much.

It's hard to know what's real and what's not these days... so many businesses churning out various ads to try to catch your clicks (and cash). Safe bet: just don't click.

Anyway... Kirsten Drysdale injecting more good stuff onto the internet.

I'm totally for the banning of closed-door lobbying.

Not sure about these spending caps... I just think the monitoring process will be too difficult/expensive.

I'd rather control/monitor the funds on the way in.
... can donate.
2. All political party income must be processed via a publicly-available platform (where names are published with the amounts) with no lower threshold for reporting. (including "memberships").
3. Parties no longer get to decide whether income is a donation or otherwise.
Political funding is a tricky one.

The amounts parties are paid per vote is a nice, neutral way to fund them, but it penalises the small and independent and makes unseating incumbents harder.

My current thinking is that donations are okay, but:
1. Only private individuals and public companies ...

Coroner - Dissonance Theory

Despite being one of the more venerable bands around, this is my first venture into Coroner-land. This Swiss band has put together a pretty cool, modern thrash album with a nice hint of groove.

Cafes:

1. Tell us if your default approach is *not* to butter your toast.
2. How about using something other than brioche for your burgers (or maybe give an option that isn't sweet).

That is all.

Void Dancer - Prone Burial

This is isn't the Seattle sound I went through my formative years with... this is some heavy progressive death... with maybe a hint of sludge?

They recently released a new album, but this was my entry point.

Appalooza - The Shining Son

I originally mistook this band as being from the US... such was their sound, but like The Necromancers, this French band puts out an excellent version of southern-tinged stoner metal.
