I’m not gonna call you names or anything but I am going to point out that i was born a light skinned Black girl with the good hair in 1969 with a white mama and in my life, they were very much like this. I think they were just nice to you because your disapproval had power.

I think part of it is framing; being “pro-life” sounds harmless at worst; who ISN’T pro-life? But they didn’t mean it literally, they meant “women aren’t people worthy of full citizenship and autonomy.” When they talked about welfare queens, it was with a hard r. It’s all the same!!

If you didn’t hear slurs 10, 20 years ago, it’s probably because they weren’t aimed at you OR they thought you’re in the in group!! I heard slurs constantly in my hometown. My father moved to Green Bay in 1994 and encountered racism constantly.

Of course it isn’t. The difference now is that chats get leaked, but they’ve always felt this way and talked amongst themselves this way. I thought y’all realized that in 2016. It’s a white boy’s club, always has been, always will be.

I’ve seen a lot of this sort of pushback On Here and I think it’s important to note that (at least what I’m seeing) everyone saying this is white. Ask your Black friends and Latino friends and Arab friends if they think this is a new phenomenon.
For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this. That's why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed - because Young Republicans weren't radical enough.
