Yeah I mean a lot of these games are jrpgs. Hell, I'm working on 2 rn. But I do think we need to free ourselves from preconceptions and just create. Like there's a difference between extrinsically motivated jrpgs and something like Jimmy or Cataphract OI- products of extreme respect for the genre

Idk honestly they're all so greasy!! Caves of Altamira is probably the most accessible option. But I'm also partial to Don't Take Me Alive and Green Earrings! Steely Dan has been one of my weird fascinations for a long time
