Time for today's #BirdOfTheDay theme, which is #SkinnyLegs, courtesy of Rob.

My contribution is this Great White Egret at RSPB Ham Wall (Somerset) - it has such fabulously long skinny legs! (June 2024)

This Wheatear was most obliging last week. Quite content at Severn Beach (South Gloucestershire) to pose on a log and let me take a few photos. Very pretty birds. (10.10.25) #ukbirding #ukwildlife #avonbirds
Common Darter enjoying a meal at Gwent Wildlife Trust's Magor Marsh Nature Reserve on Sunday afternoon. There were quite a few active along a field boundary in the mid-afternoon sunshine. Some Migant Hawker also seen. (12.10.25) #odonata #dragonfly #ukwildlife #teamdragonfly
Several Speckled Wood butterfly about on Sunday at Gwent Wildlife Trust's Magor Marsh. This one was on a fence post enjoying the afternoon sunshine. (12.10.25) #ukbutterflies #ukwildlife
Yes, really pleased to catch it so well through that vegetation. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks to Alan, the #BirdOfTheDay theme is #birdinabush.

Migrant Hawker and Common Darter seen near Severn Beach, South Gloucestershire. Getting late in the year now, and these are the only two species I have seen recently. (10.10.25) #odonata #dragonfly #ukwildlife

Meadow Pipit alongside the Severn Estuary were a delight to watch on a recent walk at New Passage, South Gloucesterhire. (10.10.25) #ukbirding #ukwildlife #avonbirds
Today's #BirdOfTheDay set by Rob is about 'Long Necks'

So first, a Grey Heron with a lovely bendy neck at Woorgreens, Forest of Dean. Second is a Little Egret somewhat excited at the prospect of a tasty snack at Magor Marsh, South Wales! (Aug.25) #UKWildlife #Birds @robcrank68.bsky.social
Thanks - one of those moments when you're in the right place at the right time, as the juvenile stretched it's wings. 🙂
Alan’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #wings (alternative #droplets).

I've selected this juvenile and adult Gannet. The photo was taken at @rspb.bsky.social Bempton Cliffs, East Riding of Yorkshire. (16.09.25)

Larger than a Coal Tit, but smaller than a Great Tit…
I'm pleased you like the pictures. But, Rob set the theme for the day, and the pictures are mine 📷🐤👍🙂
Thanks. They just made me smile as I was rummaging through some pictures to post for today's theme! :)
Rob's #BirdOfTheDay is the 'Family Paridae of Birds,' which includes 'Tits'

Blue Tit - all spruced up for the mating game, then the youngsters come along..... and life becomes a little more hectic!

This was unexpected! Some fleeting views of a pair of Green Woodpecker at New Pill Gout, just south of Severn Beach. Only one lingered close enough and long enough for a photo! (10.10.25) #ukbirding #ukwildlife @bristolbirding.bsky.social
Beat me to it! I wandered there this morning, also saw a couple of Rock Pipit and several Wheatear - oh, and a pair of Green Woodpeck at New Pill Gout. 🙂
Spotted this Turnstone late afternoon on the beach between Seahouses and Bamburgh, Northumberland. (23.09.25) #ukbirding #ukwildlife
Quite a lot of dragonfly about at WWT Slimbridge last week, although I only saw two species; Migrant Hawker and Common Darter. (01.10.25) #odonata #dragonfly #ukwildlife
A short wander around Lamplighters Marsh NR (Bristol) this morning. Several Common Darter dragonfly about, but too agile for photos today! Speckled Wood and Small White butterfly about too. Nice to see a Curlew on the edge of the Avon as the tide was falling. (06.10.25) #avonbirds #ukwildlife
A nice morning out rock climbing at Wyndcliff in the Wye Valley! Lovely sunny day and great views back to the Severn Estuary. First time climbing in 3 months so rediscovering some muscles I forgot I had! 🧗💪🤣 #rockclimbing #sportclimbing
