The conventions of political reporting today are not well equipped to handle this concerted use of pretexts for instrumental purposes and the bottomless bad faith they employ. Grasping the industrial-scale deception at the core of MAGA politics is essential. 6/

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

The last time we checked in with Virginia’s Elden Street Tea Shop in July, owner Rachel Rozner was still trying to absorb tariff costs. Now, she‘s had to pass some of those costs off to her customers, but she’s holding on to one last hope: the Supreme Court decision.
Navigating tariffs feels like a "cat-and-mouse game" for this tea shop owner
Tariffs have raised the prices that tea shop owner Rachel Rozner pays. She’s now passing some of those costs on to customers.

OK, Turkey experts, oil experts, historians, sleuths. I'm looking at a 1945 US intelligence document about a clandestine source in "Oil City." This source is being paid in Turkish lira. What do you think Oil City is and why?

I do not know the answer to this.

Pritzker/Newsom see it as a defining fact of the moment that Trump is consolidating authoritarian power daily and using it to subjugate Blue America like an enemy nation within. Other Dems should stop the Beltway-speak about Trump laying "traps" for them and engage.

It's also up for a People's Choice. Please vote here - it means a lot to our show to get this kind of support. Thanks!

Trump: Portland is burning to the ground—insurrectionists all over the place. The politicians are afraid for their lives. That’s the only reason they say there’s nothing happening.
