This week two clients got “the call” and we’re ending the week wrangling up their contracts.

I know publishing feels harder than ever lately, but good things are still happening, and great books are still being scooped up.

Hang in there. ❤️
every time I submit another job application and don’t get a call or e-mail, a piece of me dies I think

if you're in Alberta and you want your flu and covid shot in 2026 - yes you read that correctly - you have to preorder them right now. So here's the link. go do that. Just in case none of those people get removed from power by then.

please repost this, as the province seems bent on killing us.

Not a lot of posting here because I recently lost my job and am elbow deep in applying for new positions 🥲 the lack of publishing jobs in NS/remote in Canada is so disheartening y'all

One thing I will never shut up about is libraries. Genuinely our finest achievement as a civilization. Go check something out for me this week and contribute to third spaces and communal joy in your neighborhood while also enjoying some sweet artistic endeavors made by real humans like you!

Food for thought.
I've thought about it.
Fuck Israel.
I hate beta-reading books I’d acquire as an agent if I were one… like… I’d say gimme but I can’t yet!!!
the problem with getting better at editing is that you always want to edit a book you're supposed to be ignoring for the sake of writing a different one
I’d love to hide in a cabin in the woods and write for a week straight 👊🏻😔 but I have to contribute to capitalism instead

If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages
The best part about having been beta reading for so many years now on my road to becoming a lit agent is that I can see how much stronger my critique and feedback have gotten over time. If you feel like you aren't giving great feedback yet: keep working on it!

I have two subs out and I just thought of a GREAT way to change this manuscript so if you excuse me I'll be sobbing in the corner
There’s nothing like a song coming out and knowing it fits a book you’re supposed to be leaving alone
Books I bought during my summer residency for my MFA ✨
(I'm also looking for beta reading opportunities so if you see me snooping around...)
The reality is that, as a disabled person not living in a major city, publishing opportunities are often few and far between--I'd love to help be the change and start my journey to helping other disabled publishing hopefuls find their way into this industry.
