Evade gives better advantage than guard; many safe-on-guard moves are punishable if evaded, plus most strikes in the game are linear! But evading leaves you open to circulars and delayed strikes. An opponent who delays will hit you! (1/2)

Important PSA for Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage players:

Crossplay for netplay is not enabled by default!

It needs to be turned on in the GAME SETTINGS menu!

Turn this on if you want to play against players using different consoles online. Not sure why it's off by default.
To sum it up shortly, it's a system where
1. You can tech throws without whiffing anything
2. The option to beat this doesn't require the player running offense to give up their turn
Both opposite of the 'standard' throws that are the standard in so many 2D games now. Would be a nice change of pace
Amen, more designers should iterate from the bb throw system

It is likely only me but remove forced standtech animations from throws please. Not every game needs it

"Tracking" is digital in VF. All moves track one way (Half-Circular), both ways (Full Circular), or no way (Linear) by definition. Attempted Evades get Counter Hit if the correct Circulars hit them. Throws also cover both directions! (3/3)

HOW IT WORKS:

Throws (10f) are faster than mids (generally 14f or more). Crouching at the right time avoids both.

At -1 to -3, 2G then G.
At -4 or -5, 2G doesn't avoid the throw, and you need 33G instead (it crouches faster). (2 of 2)

I love all kinds of 2D fighters but yea there's really nothing like VF. At this point I almost separate them in my mind as different genres because the experience and mental approach is so different
PSA 2xko on Steam Deck Windows 11 install offline seems to run well in matches, Noxus stage looks like the best performing. Exact performance stats pending. No luck getting the offline executable to work with Proton
