A pretty decent cloud reveal / fog of war effect for the mission map!! #shmup #gamedev #indiedev
Game writing tip #56: Be sure to end every error message with a pointed insult. "You cannot build here. Loser."

Ever get the feeling that this century is speed running the song 2525?

Like people said, "We can do better than that!" But in our incredibly dumb number-go-up culture, they mistook "faster" as "better". www.youtube.com/watch?v=izQB...

ARM PC laptops are kind of amazing. I had forgotten what it was like to be able to work without a power cord.
In the 99th inning, someone won. A sleepy child raises their head, "Seattle has a baseball team?"
Okay, true, it *is* longer. But it is also more readable!
I'm too in love with nice headings, white space and bullets to ever create a concise 1-pager

you can just drop onto a roof and start playing wind instruments at people. no one can stop you.

this is the game we're creating.

If you are curious what goes into art direction in one of our games.
✍️ our newest developer blog comes from Justin, one of our Art Leads at Spry Fox.

Justin sat down to walk us through the inspirations & thoughts that went into concepting the visuals for the Shrineworks in Spirit Crossing.

let's have a read!

A digital illustration showcasing concept art for "Shrineworks", living stone structures in the world of Spirit Crossing (a game being developed by Spry Fox.) The structures are beige-grey and covered with moss. An assortment of tubes is sticking out of them in a life-like manner.

Me: Two coin flipping games came out in the same week. How weird is that?

My wife: What are the chances!

Me: Fifty-fifty
The key difference between Q-Up and Unfair Flips is that this Steam review would be in Q-Up’s written narrative as a bit, and Unfair Flips simply sends people so mad they voluntarily write it themselves.
The game in which the premise is "the odds are real but gamers struggle to conceptualize or even believe them" has negative reviews from gamers who don't believe the odds are real (game: Unfair Flips)
Base building: Find your seat, your people.
Inventory: Garbage bag. Water bottle. Merch
Terrain: Seething masses. Rain. Mud. Security. The Groper.
Hunger: Joy. Gained by consuming music from ideal locations
Mid goal: Expensive Beer. Bathroom.
End goal: Leaving happy. Not very, very sad.
The Fame Sun calls us! Like celestial moths, winning means burning.
What if:
"Hell, but fun?"
"Open world field of millions of wildflowers?"
"mayor of Chicago but also a kaiju giraffe?"
"zombie-sim, post death of last human?"
"concert survival where you really have to find a good place to pee?"
Truth be told, I experience this exact sensation every time I remember to clean my glasses. "I can See! It is a Miracle sent from Heaven!"
I dreamed that I had forgotten to take the thin protective transparent film off my new glasses. Turns out it was applied to both sides of the lens. (Gotta find the corners!)

When I finally peeled it off, I was stunned at how hyper crystal clear the world looked. Like being awoken by ice water.

Baseball is just a coin-pusher game.
* People = coins
* Convoluted rules + skill = random generator of incremental progress
* Bases + Strikes & Outs = overflow spaces
I'm going to take a stab at this:

Among the popular US sports, baseball has the highest extrinsic:intrinsic structure and ruleset.

The meaningful verbs are super-limited:
1. Hit the ball [far].
2. Catch the ball.
3. Throw the ball accurately.
4. Pitch the ball cleverly.

don’t ask me to explain this, but baseball is definitely the sport that seems the most made up
