I remember reading old speculation about the ‘Alien’ universe ( back in the days when there were like, 3 films ) that suggested some of the people working in space haulage were incredibly old due to time dilation and too far removed from their long dead families and homes to ever do anything else.

Well, Ripley didn’t sign up for 57 years in space and had a daughter to get home to. Who has now grow old and died in the interim. She told her she’d be home in time for tea.
