Things are grim. I don’t even like opening my paper subscription (still have one) these days. I thought of a thing to do for a nice hit of dopamine: post a picture of my cats once a day (now more or less 5-6 times a week), for the next 4ish years.

Surprise Wednesday

Ashley isn’t a jumper. So when I went to put some clothes in my hamper and spotted her in there I was shocked enough that I stopped talking while in the middle of a sentence (ask my family, they’ll tell you it doesn’t happen often).

I later told my kids that my brain exploded from the cuteness, while brandishing this photo on my smartphone.

Not my cat Tuesday, neighborhood edition

I have mentioned here before that my spouse is a cat magnet to neighborhood cats. This makes about, I dunno, 12 cats he’s befriended in our immediate neighborhood? Meanwhile all I ever see on walks are carcasses of birds and/or squirrels. Fun.

At this rate, the CDS dropping in with a basketful of kittens is a faded, tattered dream for moi. No, they’d probably land by the husband, who’d very drolly say “I’m sorry, kittens. You’re cute and all, but we’re already at capacity here”. 😑

Angie, Outing Sunday Edition

Angie was pretty darn nervous, as she only leaves the safety of her domain for the doctor with the pokey syringes (aka, the vet). Were it not that her favorite human was holding her safely, she would have been out of there.

Nick and Ashley not pictured, because “blessing him last year just didn’t take” (my tween’s words) and “I am not losing a limb unless necessary and unavoidable” (my wording). They were blessed in absentia.

Solar battery Sunday.

Boris did this a lot. He’s the reason we have joked that cats are solar powered ever since (circa 2015). However, it seems that Boris was the only one whose panels were installed on his belly.

When your cat makes his own crate just because he can.

Nick likes hampers. The laundry in them, not so much. Usually, his exposure to them is limited to empty laundry mesh hampers on the way to go back down to the laundry room.

But we are remodeling part of our home, so most dirty laundry has been displaced to plastic bins in the kitchen, awaiting trips to the laundromat, and mesh hampers of clean laundry awaiting folding.

Nick finds this state of things unacceptable, so he reacts to this anarchy by finding the nearest repository of clothes, climbing in it, and then fighting with the clothes until they are evicted to the floor. Only then, bin overturned and enemy laundry vanquished, he sits there in triumph.

It’s even more fun with non mesh bins. I’m lifting a meowing hamper off the ground at least twice a week. 😂

I don’t know this handsome fella (just assuming, it’s not like I checked his hind side). I just know he lives somewhere near my mom’s house, whom I’m visiting right now.

I love cats, but I hardly ever get visitors that can be petted in my backyard. My mom barely tolerates cats, and has no less than three separate feline visitors daily. Go figure.
