I'd take Baker in a heartbeat over any of the current crop but it's forgotten that he was trying to get people to say Nixon _didn't_ know things that Nixon _did_ know. That was bad behavior for which he got praise because people misunderstood it.

A couple of weeks ago, Trump struggled with a broken umbrella as he boarded Air Force One.

Let me tell you how we got to this point — and the tragic downfall of the noble umbrella. 🧵
God, this is terrifying and horrible. I am hoping so hard that the pain of fearing it is the worst you (pl.) face.
Yes. I'm not even a New Yorker and claim no great knowledge of him but I have seen no evidence that this is strategic and isn't Cuomo being true to himself.
Alas, it seems Prof. Samuelson invented this circa 1970 or 1978 as a paraphrase of Keynes. But Samuelson is certainly adequate authority.

Speaker of the House holding a formal presser to announce that Jesus is the king of everyone in the USA should be getting more attention
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."
As a result, DC No Kings was under the power of Congress--shouldn't be but Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17, albeit First Amendment--but Speaker Johnson is so eager to surrender the powers of Congress to the president that he didn't even consider trying.
Apologies if this should be obvious but would not a catastrophic plan cover a cancer diagnosis? I thought the problem is that there are so many more minor things, including the screening that would detect the cancer, that a catastrophic plan wouldn't cover.
I saw _Blazing Saddles_ before I saw, and loved, Marlene Dietrich in _Destry Rides Again_ and still wonder which is the better order to see them.
Can we have no barriers to entry _unless_ you've been stripped of your right to claim the title? Also, claiming "journalist" or "reporter" when you've only been an editor should be grounds for exclusion.

"New Far Side comics" was definitely not on my bingo card for this week. They're not bad!

This is a decent introduction. For examples, starting fire is considered work so no catalytic converters so no gas-powered cars, and many don't use electricity either. Some rabbis would approve protesting, www.sefaria.org/sheets/15310..., but getting there might be hard.

Personal gripe: the whole saying is "A few bad apples SPOIL THE BUNCH." Somehow this has transformed into "a few bad apples" being a phrase indicating "not a big deal", when the whole point is it IS a big deal because EVERYONE HAS GONE BAD THROUGH EXPOSURE
Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

I don’t think you can “abuse” your right to protest
Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson's full statement, in which she says she will sign an EO permitting protest "only at the safety zone located at the ICE facility on Beach Street," is up on the village's website.

"There are too many protesters abusing their right to protest," Thompson says.

Incredible.

Jack Posobiec references the earliest version of antifa -- the anti-fascists in the Weimar Republic who were opposed to the Nazi Party -- as the bad guys.
I'd like to learn more about this. Is this _Nomos and Narrative_ or is there other work I should be reading?
This is also why Shaheen is utterly wrong. Vought should be encouraged to keep talking, as should POTUS and Miller, because they tend to incriminate themselves and disclose their true intentions and illegal actions.
Agreed but I also think @nycsouthpaw.bsky.social is correctly saying that such use of irony may be poor strategy by Sen. Whitehouse.
Hoping it's helpful and not arrant pedantry: Did you mean to put the year of his death rather than his birth? I'm trying to figure out if there's significance in 70 years passing between the first and last panels.

ICE just blatantly violated the law and arrested sitting Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes while seeking to illegally arrest a patient in a hospital. Fuck these fascists.
