My favorite book when I was a kid was the original Bambi, plus I come from the farm, so I can handle animal deaths.
I don't like it and I usually cry hard but I can handle it.
I cannot handle child deaths (of any species).
They always seem to show those in Zombie movies and that's a no go for me.

My most unhinged literary opinion is
that killing off the main character is often the easy way out.
It is usually MUCH more difficult to figure out a way to have that character survive.
It is even more challenging to give that character a good happy ending.

I do think research is VERY important.
I also think it is very difficult to write how things truly work when the expectation from readers is different.
For ex, I once wrote a story based on my job in my other life and it got ripped to shreds because in the movies, it is done very differently.

That he thinks treating yourself (in this case, to flowers) is a bad thing and attention getting is a reason to reconsider the relationship right there.
Don't ever be with someone who doesn't want you to be happy.

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I were the full-sized candy bar people last year.
It was a dream of mine.
And the reality WAY outshone that dream.
I recommend everyone try to do this at least once in their lives.
It was AWESOME.
