A few sun breaks, a few grumbles at the wind, and plenty of time to enjoy the rhythm of the road. We end at the beautiful restored Landart hotel in the historic part of Sittensen.

🚴‍♂️ Bremen ➡️ Sittensen | 76 km | 300 m elevation
A ride along the EuroVelo route today — 76 km of peaceful countryside, rolling hills, and just enough headwind to make it interesting. 🌬️🌤️
From the iconic statue of the Bremen Town Musicians 🐴🐕🐈🐓 to the historical atmosphere in the Schnoor district, every street breathes character. Of course we also visit the Cathedral and shelter from the rain at the same time. And the Böttcherstraße, Art deco art and architecture in one street.

✨ Bremen – A hidden gem
Today we walk through Bremen between the rain showers. A nice city with history and modern design.

📏 76 km
⛰️ 400 meters of elevation gain
We started the day with a peaceful walk through the Citadel park in Vechta — a calm and scenic beginning. The weather was dry at first, but along the way we got caught in a few showers.
And a castle or a beautiful country house. And friendly Germans who greet with mon. It's super relaxed cycling. Day 4, 82 km and 550 meters of altitude and day 5, 59 km and 280 meters of altitude.

Days 4 and 5 start with rain. Then alternating sun and clouds. Occasional showers and some drizzle, but mostly dry. We ride on quiet small roads, some unpaved. Along fields, through forests and beautiful towns and villages with monumental buildings.

The day starts with rain. But it soon dries up. The route goes over quiet field roads and forest paths again. Partly paved and unpaved. We cycle through beautiful Munster. And pass several castles, country houses and fortified farms.
The rain keeps threatening. We pass Coesfeld and it gets darker and darker. Eventually the thunderstorm breaks out and it starts to pour, but by then we are already at the hotel. Even more luck. In the evening we walk through Billerbeck, what a nice old town. There is even a real spring.

Rain is forecast for today. Lots of showers and lots of wind. We start at 10 am and hope to cycle dry for another hour. We have a tailwind. That’s lucky. We cycle a stretch parallel to the border. Through fields and forests. Paved and unpaved.
The last part we cycle exactly on the border. Finally we end up in Suderwick Germany after 83 km and 260 meters of altitude gain. The Netherlands is on the other side of the street.

By bike from Kleve to Emmerich is faster than by car. The Rhine bridge has been a traffic jam there for more than 10 years. We cross the border several times. We see the moated castle in Anholt from the fence. Unfortunately the park is not public. Fortunately the nice town square is.

We are sitting out the rain at home. By leaving a bit later we cycle behind the rain instead of in the middle of it. On the beautiful cycle path over a former railway line we cycle to Groesbeek, Kranenburg and Kleve.
Tomorrow we leave for our bike tour through Northern Germany. 🇩🇪 On our way to Peenemunde. The birthplace of the V2 rocket of the Third Reich. But before that we will of course also visit Bremen, Hamburg and Rostock. After Peenemunde we cycle through Poland to Berlin. That’s the plan.
