If your high school and college friends were into rape, genocide, and Hitler, your friends weren’t “just kids joking around.” Your friends were Nazis.
Will that include Ukrainians? Because I don’t think it will include Ukrainians…
Young Republicans in public: “We are just unapologetic patriots! Only unhinged leftists call us Nazis and racists!”

Young Republicans in private: “When do the mass rapes and executions of the untermensch poisoning our glorious White Reich start, my fellow white power warriors?”
Can’t believe I missed a whole world war. Is warfare that quiet and efficient now?
Jeff Bezos sees orbital data centers in 20 years. Math, physics, and economics beg to differ. We know it. He knows it. So, why do Bezos and so many other #tech oligarchs and startup CEOs keep promising six impossible things before breakfast?
why jeff bezos wants aws to move from the cloud into orbit
Are we going to have new AWS regions orbiting overhead by 2050? Physics says no.

I am not currently on any medications. Given a 650% discount, I should get a prescription for some so I can be paid thousands of dollars a month just to take meds. The opportunity is right there.

Science says that as we get older, we get less curious because we want to avoid being wrong, scared, or disappointed by the truth. And this is why the grand dream for the internet never materialized.
how mental comfort is killing the web
Science says that as we get older, we stop asking questions to which we may not like the answers.

So, don’t be surprised if they break character when they’re actually shook because it’s not “a rare moment of sanity” but their MAGA mask slipping off to reveal the craven, amoral, but still perfectly sane, reasonable person underneath who knows they’re not going to survive in a normal job.
By the way, that’s actually supposed to be an indictment. Republican lawmakers have allowed very real and dedicated lunatics, fascists, criminals, and domestic terrorists to gain control of the country, and are now cosplaying as White Christian Nationalists to stay employed and do insider trading.
Yes, I know it seems jarring that MTG suddenly sounds like a rational and sensible politician with very middle of the road views, but I would really like you to remember that her MAGA persona is just a character she plays for attention and votes from the Deep South. Most GOP lawmakers are like this.
Yes, the political pundit circuit is 90% performance and you are being played. #news #politics #performance

Okay, and I have friends who work in VFX who are tasked with fixing bad AI experiments.

I also know of people vibe coding apps and refusing to hire people in my industry and people who accept defeat and hire real programmers.

This is why the plural of anecdote is not data.
Weirdly, creating a partisan ecosystem that relies entirely on attention-seeking rage bait and rabidly denying reality to push conspiracy theories can backfire. Who would’ve thunk it?
If you read the actual article, the point isn’t that jobs aren’t being lost, it’s that they’re mostly either being shifted offshore, and AI is being used to justify cutting budgets or headcount without having to admit that the company is short on cash or can’t borrow as much as it could before.
Smaller companies are now using Gen-AI to cough up crappy ads instead of even trying to hire freelancers and design shops. But a lot of people hate the end result and associate it with poor product quality, so they’re quietly hiring humans again to fix the mess…
Humans are being hired to make AI slop look less sloppy
In the age of automation, human workers are being brought in to fix what artificial intelligence gets wrong.

Yes, the skill sets are changing so much that the same exact skills that were outdated and insufficient in the U.S. are in high demand in India and Eastern Europe, in offices ran by the same exact companies...
All the data says that's not true, but trust me bro?

Automation can definitely take jobs away, but that automation is specific to each company and process, not a generic tool that's supposed to be everything to everyone.
By Clegg's logic, the federal laws against meth should be repealed because they harm the profits of gangs and cartels.
No, ChatGPT isn't going to steal your job anytime soon. But a lot of AI startups and companies busy laying off millions desperately need you to believe that you're becoming obsolete because of some amazing AI breakthrough...
actually, no, chatbots aren't taking your job

Chatbots that can supposedly plan a vacation of a lifetime are leaving people stranded, leading them to non-existent locations, and giving them impossible itineraries. And this seems to be a feature, not a bug of this bullshit-as-a-service industry...

Well, the main newspaper in the Soviet Union was called Правда, which means “truth” and North Korea insists on calling itself a democratic republic. So, the more you loudly proclaim to be fair and truthful and free without anyone asking, the more red flags I see…
People just send posts and updates to very common community and security apps that start with 🧊🧊🧊 and if any platform tried to ban any of these apps, Amazon and ADT would be livid.
Ah, yes, the immensely profitable and stable career of “being a famous person online for a few years” really needed proper credentialing so you can get your foot in the door of… umm… opening a social media account?
The internet was supposed to break the hold of media monopolies and set us free. Instead, it’s trapping us in increasingly toxic cesspools. So, what the hell happened? A conversation with @ahmedbaba.bsky.social

Since the mid-1990s, a certain subset of tech people in Silicon Valley have been looking for a god. So, they've decided to build one.
