Been in writing/pub business for 16 years and I still can't figure out why it's so hard for publishers to pay their authors. We need a group of lawyers to go after these assholes. At this point, it just feels like they're scam artists from day 1.

This is what candy for 500 kids looks like, because we get that many trick-or-treaters if the weather is good, 350 if the weather is shit. And yes, I know it's almost 2 months away, but I started preparing last month. We'll also be handing out stickers and glow sticks.

Today I encountered a patient who will be forced to travel to another state for spine surgery because their insurance won't cover any hospitals in Ohio. Their insurance is through their employer, a MAJOR retail company who wouldn't miss the money. Our healthcare system is incredibly fucked.
