It illustartes my point that getting across the globe on demand, in a day, for a couple hundered bucks is so ubiquiteous and commonplace that the minimal friction of the experience is treated like an inconvenience.

Your take re: clothing is similarly untethered. Wool blends, the availability of merino, breathable waterproof stuff etc. I lived through 2005 - it was cotton tees and cargo shorts.
