it's a common sentiment that nice audio equipment only matters if you listen to 'well produced' music

but idk man i just listened to some of venom's welcome to hell and yeah the guitars will always sound like a meat grinder, but on my rig it's undeniably the most clear they've ever sounded to me

beat the original ultima. you know what? this game is still decently fun. a little repetitive but not very long. obviously its importance cannot be understated

didn't do a 5x5 last week as i wasn't listening to much music and this week is only marginally better but did see some improvements in the last few days with some real album listening including maybe starting to catch back up on new releases? but also silksong releasing means maybe not we'll see

finally got around to playing undertale and getting all the major endings to it and uh yeah sorry folks but i think it is a deeply overrated game. very cynical too. fight against sans was cool enough at least but the game as a whole is just too on the nose and up its own ass

i've come to the realization that one thing that holds back games like undertale and omori is that they are rpgs made by people who take influence exclusively from other video games and it's made worse by them feeling very limited in what said influences are

beat turok (the 2015 remake of the 1997 game). was a fun romp with some very minor gripes

general thoughts on turok:

from 1997 this is the game and series most known for its releases on the n64 but it did get pc releases as well in that era
but it is still one of the earliest examples of an fps game mostly associated with consoles rather than pc
i do like this game but there are a few minor gripes
there's a high emphasis on platforming in this games and it can be a bit of a mixed bag. it's not too bad but i can only imagine it would be a nightmare to try it on a controller
so in a way this version is easier, bless kbm
you sorta stop a bit every time you land from a jump, kinda like your character is bracing himself and it can make platforming and movement feel a bit sluggish cause of it
that might sound like a minor complaint and it is but the game is otherwise fast paced outside of platforming and prioritizes quick movement to dodge your enemies
speaking of which, for a game called 'turok: dinosaur hunter' well, there are a good amount of dinosaurs but they're never really all that threatening
some can be kinda quick but so are you
later a couple of them get guns (yes, dinosaurs with guns) but even still they are kinda just bullet sponges more than anything else
the weapon variety is okay, you get a good amount of weapons but also some that are straight upgrades to older ones
there's like at least 14 weapons in the game or smth
one of which you can only obtain by finding the pieces of it throughout the game which i did not
there's plenty of checkpoints and save points throughout the level. dying isn't too bad other from the fact that you lose your backpack which reduces you to very limited ammo for your shotguns and assault rifle
the dinosaurs aren't all that threatening, the most threatening enemies are some of the human enemies you see later in the game
