Teachers in 2011 in Wisconsin were absolutely canaries in the coal mine. Everything just got worse from there.
Art markets are one of my favorite places to buy gifts for friends and family—you don’t go in knowing exactly what to get, but you know the right piece when you see it! It makes for a fun adventure.

Happy Spooky Season! Which, in my humble opinion, is the *actual* most wonderful time of the year 🍁 🎃

#illustration #halloween #october #spookyseason #cat #bat #pumpkins
An illustration of a lanky black cat and a small, purple bat running and flying through a pumpkin patch. It is dusk on an overcast October day, and a couple of the pumpkins are carved and lit as jack o’ lanterns. There are dried cornstalks standing and warm yellow lights strung up in the background. Despite being a digital illustration, the piece has the appearance of being colored with markers.
Also, speaking as someone with adopted family members, passing on your dna is an ultimately meaningless “legacy.” Raising your children to be good people who try and make the world a better place is a legacy that actually matters.
I've never understood some men's obsession with having children (especially male children) as a form of leaving a legacy. Especially since those same men rarely want to help raise those kids. An individual person isn't a monument to your DNA. You didn't actually accomplish anything but reproduce.

A digital-watercolor style illustration of an anthropomorphic red fox on the bow of a tugboat. The fox is wearing a scarf, oversized sweater, skinny pants and rubber rain boots. Fish are peeking out of the water and the Leo Frigo Bridge can be seen in the background. The location is the Fox River in downtown Green Bay. An illustration of a woman joyfully running. The piece is in a bright, bold, cartoony style that combines sharp angles with organic curves. A highly-stylized sun and its rays make up the background. A simple illustration of a baby harbor seal chewing on its flipper (much like a human baby would suck its thumb). A yellow heart floats above its head. The image is punctuated by a bright red background. A sticker design featuring a fluffy white baby seal with a stern expression on its face. The text reads "seal of disapproval."

Hi #PortfolioDay!
I'm Kris, freelance illustrator. I love to draw animals and fantasy type stuff, and, once in a while, I like to make my drawings move.
I'm usually open for new work. Feel free to drop me a line!

A lion reared up on his haunches looking nervously at a spider. A bust portrait of my dwarf warden rook. A coyote with a butterfly sitting on its nose set to a sunny spring setting. Memorial portrait of my grey cat Izzy. He's lying, front legs crossed, on a leopard print blanket.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
Mashiro was the inspiration for this chonky boi:
We all have our comfort foods, our comfort shows, and maybe even our comfort games (Breath of the Wild, anyone?)… and some of us have our comfort doodle subjects. One of mine just happens to be seals. I have drawn quite a few this year.
A highly stylized drawing of a delightfully fat ringed seal. The seal is grayish-brown in color and has a spots-and-rings pattern on its back. It sits against a bright blue background. The seal has a heart over his head because he loves you.

Water zones in Sonic games stress me the heck out. Teach your hedgehog how to swim, SEGA!!

A drawing of Sonic the Hedgehog, wearing pool floaties on his arms and an inner tube around his waist, with flippers that share a color scheme with his normal shoes. He has a worried expression on his face—what has he gotten himself into now?

(This is the print of this seal that I will *hopefully* have with me on Saturday—this time I need the printer gods to smile upon me. So, uh, I’m not sure what my chances are, but we’ll see!)
The same seal from the event promo illustration, but without the event info. The seal is smaller and centered on the canvas.

I will once again be tabling in the artist alley at the Brown County Library Pop Con—my favorite event of the year! It’s always such a good time, with so much to see and do. Locals, hope to see you there!

The illustration also includes information on the Brown County Library Pop Con, stating that the event is October 4th from 10am to 4pm, and that the illustrator will be in the artist alley and the seal on the illustration loves supporting artists. The promo image is punctuated by a bright red background.
If you'd have told me a decade ago that John Cena would one day be one of my favorite actors, I never would have believed it

We loved having you, @geneha.com, and are so excited to have @lucyknisley.bsky.social next weekend! 😄
I can absolutely understand why people are upset, but I don’t think her comments should overshadow the support she’s vocally given over the years.
I saw someone on Twitter point out how she’s clearly mourning the loss of a relationship with someone she loved and respected, something many of us have had to do! She essentially lost jkr to a cult, and that’s a difficult thing to have to grapple with and heal from.
