Catching up with last night’s Traitors. The fundamental issue seems to be that the Faithful try to play against a playbook concept of a Traitor, and not the individuals before them. When someone picked up on that, they nearly went at the round table.

I started writing a book which I thought was going to be a kid’s fiction book (it kinda morphed into something else) so I started reading Philip Reeve, Struan Murray, Kiran Millwood Hargrave and Jakob Wegelius just for myself. Wow. Genuinely blown away by the quality.

When I was a kid, Dark Is Rising Sequence and the Changes trilogy were my absolute favourites. They seemed rare, which became their charm. There’s just so much around in that genre now, and it’s high quality. I’d just have loved being a kid now from a literary perspective ‘full stop’.

Judges’ comments and marks would need to adhere to ‘common sense’ standards. They would need to explain that ‘without getting themselves into trouble’, the show would revert to more ‘traditional pairings’, and if lefty viewers wanted ‘the other sort of thing, they could turn over to Channel 4’.

BBC should approach Farage and Tice to take over as Strictly presenters. Give the public a sight of what their leadership would do to a national asset. First move would likely be to shift the Blackpool week to Whitechapel.
