Make fun of the vanity. Not the neck.

I'm not trying to protect HIM. I'm trying to protect the people, particularly women, who are degraded by the way we talk about people's bodies.

Critique what's gross about him. Don't critique things that are just part of the human experience, like aging necks.

SURELY WE CAN INSULT TRUMP WITHOUT INSULTING ALL WOMEN IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK

- seen too many references to his "neck v******", do not appreciate!

Listen: body shaming is BAD

It's bad when it's an unflattering photo of a president's neck

It's bad when you're judging the desirability of a postpartum body or a woman over 40

It's bad when you're trying to insult a small-minded man by bringing up appendage sizes

I'm still not a fan. Women with wrinkly necks will be negatively impacted. Wrinkly necks are not the thing to make fun of IMO.

Make fun of his vanity. That's fair game!

I think it's fair game to make fun of how vain and shallow he is. How totally ridiculous really. But imo we should leave his neck out of it!

I totally get this, but to me it's not just about Trump. It's also about people (including ourselves!) hearing the way we talk about people and their appearance. If we are making fun of his neck, does that make others worth aging necks feel self- conscious? Yes, I'm sure it does.

Oh no my husband also committed this sin just today

RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT

it is hilarious though that he's publicly complaining about the photo. Bc he's small minded and vain!

As a woman who has struggled painfully with body image issues, as a woman who has been fed from childhood the idea that wrinkles and gravity are to be feared,

I'm saying THE WAY WE TALK ABOUT THIS STUFF MATTERS.

Please. Gosh, ugh. I hate it!

I don't think it's a coincidence that I've seen that unflattering neck compared to a woman's *ahem*. Somehow women always bear the worst of body shaming, even if it's a man you're aiming for.

Just, stop. Insult the vanity, the pettiness, the stupidity. Don't insult the body.

This kind of talk doesn't bring value or intelligence to the conversation.

But it DOES activate people's insecurities. It DOES hurt bystanders who already fear aging or gaining weight. It reinforces the worst, shallowest, most misogynistic impulses of society. And it's gross.
