When I was 11, my parents mostly quit caring about where I was. In the summer, I ignored the city curfew of 10pm, and my parents didn't look for me.

When I was 14, I began backpacking in the local mountains every chance I got. No one knew where I was, and no one asked when I finally got back.

Nope.

Caveat: I did end up joining the Army later, but that was my choice to do so. (I wasn't against the military on general grounds, just the Vietnam War, which Johnson lied us into).

I was younger. Nixon ended the draft in my 19th year, so I was never subject to it. Still had to carry the card, but somehow it got torn into pieces....
