There would be lots to say about the framing ("burden" in the title?Really?), and the vagueness of the prompt (which regulation? What to simplify?)
My big takeaway also is the unbelievable amount of citizen replies, pushing against the idea of slashing more nature protection Is it even precendented?

Over the last few weeks, I've spoken to experts to dig into the details of the Commission's proposal for a 90% emissions reduction by 2040

For the series finale, @smorgan.bsky.social joined me to discuss what we've learnt and what happens next. Listen here: foresightmedia.com/story/sTA2kS...
I added this one to my list on the #MerlinApp today and I feel like I caught a super rare pokemon, except it's much cooler because it's a real animal, and also it's a RAPTOR

Why "desperately"? You could also see it as trying to get across a key deliverable of his Mission letter...

Nous so…

Another example of first mover disadvantage, as the incumbents - lagging behind compliance delay - will get 3 more years to milk out their stranded assets, meaning cleaner options will remain more comparatively more expensive, longer. Some even have the audacity of calling it simplification 🙄
How do you define CDR? If you keep it open (both technological and natural), then "alongside" is an incentive at restauring degraded ecosystems and natural carbon sinks. Provided that it's not offsetting, but additional to mitigation, that is
You really are an attentive reader. Also, I would welcome your take on the power & potential of procurement, from the viewpoint of a company that works a lot with public authorities!
I agree with your overall assessment, but the demand side/market creation aspect appear a bit weak to make clean products really cost competitive. The proposition doesn't get us out of fossil dependency as it stands, but there are good propositions that can put EU industry in a better direction
You know you live in a dystopia when the perspective of a new global outbreak sounds actually much better than the threat of upcoming nuclear war, with an historically unprecedented US-Russia coalition firing first

Adding baking soda in soaking water also helps make the beans or peas get softer, faster - I tested and approved for chickpeas, at least
supply chains for sorting, collecting & retreating have been dismantled so fast, creating big gaps where there used to be effective & efficient solutions. Milk's a good example, with empty bottles collection that used to be the norm & cleaning facilities that have massively shut down few decades ago
What's fascinating, from a historical perspective, is how fast & deeply plastic has become undetachable from our lives. But it's been less than a century since it has massively spread out. My great grand parents generation, more or less. Amazing how fast we forgot how they did without it!
