The increasing move towards distrust of all intellectuals has really done a number on "smart" characters in superhero comics (Xavier, Reed, Beast) and unfortunately it extends to the real world as well

Cynical modern writers are so enamored with the idea of the amoral or secluded hyper-intellectual that they fail to see that the best Reed is goofy-ass Kirby Reed.

It seems his health is intrinsically tied to the franchise. When the downward slide of the mutant books started with Decimation, Chuck started getting worse and worse.

Jean is only interesting when she ISN'T Phoenix.

Rogue in the Savage Land is a mid-tier story at BEST.

Kwannon should not exist.

Emma was BADLY mischaracterized by Morrison and unfortunately it stuck.

All of Storm's best stories are her either having lost her powers or not using her powers.
