We broadcast the very 1st Spurs podcast way back in 2006! Still going strong right here. Love discussing. Hate arguing.

Our maintained league position is solely down to Vicario by the way.
Vicario again. Sensational. Should have been 4 or 5 for them.
Yeah, and it’s particularly tough for someone whose game isn’t based on physicality and speed. He needs to watch videos of Modric. He has similar attributes and he struggled at first for the same reasons. I think Xavi has the talent to do it, but he needs to change his game significantly.
I agree that Frank has inherited a lot of problems and isn’t the cause of most of them. But mentality is something the manger can meaningfully affect. We started the season strong and feeling good, so the decline in mentality has to be at least partly on him.
My family has been going to Spurs for 100 years. My children are fourth generation fans. But I’m seriously considering stopping my season tickets. Prices keep going up, it takes up more and more of my time, and the reward is non-existent. There is no joy in it anymore. I honestly think I’m done.
Maybe Nuno and Ange as joint managers, cancelling each other’s extremities out to create the perfect leader!
It’s all very reminiscent of the Nuno era. Great start, great league position, but a pervasive sense that it’s just not right. And while I think Frank hasn’t been given a proper chance, I suspect it will end similarly.
He’s still a young human being. Players like Son, Modric and Berbatov would all have flopped if they hadn’t been given patience.
Can we please give Simons a bit of patience and belief?
I mean some of them are still leftover injuries from last season so…
It’s definitely better than where we were. But block and counter is not how we want to play every game. Again it’ll do for now.
I just worry a bit that it’s the old block and counter again, which does tend to work well away but it’s not an approach that Spurs fans tolerate for long. Again if it’s a means to and end ‘for now’ then fine and we should all be patient. But yeah, hopefully that’s not it from now on.
Yeah definitely. It wasn’t an assured defensive performance by any means.
I don’t think we were 3-0 good, but that’s an excellent tactical performance. Frank has yet to work out how to best set up at home, but these kind of games are clearly his sweet spot.
Incredible save. But can we please not?
In addiction I get particularly annoyed by non match going fans who criticise those who make huge financial and time sacrifices to go to games only to see cold shit served up. We’re only human. It’s fair to get a bit quiet sometimes and easy to criticise that from a warm comfy sofa.
In cold simple terms, one group is paid to be there, and the other pays to be there.

I do think fans have a responsibility to support the team but I hate any suggestion that fans take blame for poor performances. Not long ago teams were playing in empty stadiums and there was still good football.
I do too, I’m not writing Frank off. I am slightly disappointed that we still seem a little one dimension (score then defend!) but you’re right there’s probably lots of reasons for that.
Even using the expectation of a long throw to do a short one would be good sometimes. Variety is important because it stops predictability. This was Ange’s undoing really and the whole point of Frank (I thought) was that he was more adaptive.
Don’t mind the long throws. I do mind us being absolutely terrible at short ones.
Of course my take is extremely one-dimensional and you’re right there was more too it. But the intensity of the high press was killing them and led directly to our goal, and the disallowed one. As soon as we relaxed that, Villa were able to play out and around us. It changed the whole game.
On this (rare) occasion I am blaming the manager. We had the game by the scruff of the neck and Villa were in absolute disarray. It was ours but we took our foot off, they gained confidence, we lost ours and the game turned completely. It was a tactical failure. He has to own that.
We are missing our two most creative midfielders and our best striker. I think that’s a big part of the reason we look bad up front. That and signing four seemingly extremely limited wide players.
I mean he’s clearly not an absolute idiot so no surprise here really.
It just shouldn’t even be a conversation yet, agreed.
