Dear national media: Instead of using photos of LBJ signing the Voting Rights Act, use this one of its bi-partisan reauthorization. It does more to show how far we’ve regressed in a few short years.

Wow, this is quite the evidentiary basis for the urgent policing need for a surge to stop widespread rebellion, lawlessness such that the only option is bringing in & federalizing the national guard, militarizing US cities at tremendous expense. Check out the whole THREAD !!

Soldiers pursued and detained both accused pizza thieves.

That guy has a point! Maybe all history courses at a land grant public university should have a land acknowledgement. @aaup.org @ohaaup.bsky.social @osuaaup.bsky.social
cmcknichols.bsky.social
At least Ohio State continues to revise what was once an all-out ban on land acknowledgments, but it is far from enough. Most such statements are historical facts, NOT advocacy, AND they fall under the auspices of academic freedom. No other OH school banned them.🗃️ www.dispatch.com/story/news/e...

Ohio State has twice this semester revised its policy on land acknowledgements, including whether professors can include them in course materials.

The attack on our colleagues’ academic freedom, and anything to do with race and diversity, is in full force at OSU.

Obeying in advance once again, OSU is now withdrawing support for scholars studying topics and attending relevant conferences that the federal government doesn't like.
Ohio State changes policy on group conferences after Trump administration threats
A federal investigation into potentially discriminatory practices at Ohio State prompted the university to change its policies regarding conferences.

That's not one I knew, wow first tennis in the US in Staten Island! And the critical role of Outerbridge in bringing tennis to the US...🗃️

In 1874, Mary Ewing Outerbridge brought home America’s first tennis set — and customs agents seized it.

She got it back, built a court on Staten Island, and changed women’s sports forever.

History turns on curiosity, persistence, and a little nerve.

I worked as an academic in Europe five years ago. I always heard folks say: “yes things are strange now, but the US will always be a powerhouse in scientific research and higher education.”

That didn’t age well.

Science in the US will never recover if this continues. 🧪

Outside of Portland's ICE facility last night, Kenny from South Park got married to a unicorn.

The betrothed Portland couple said they decided to get hitched on site to bring some joy and fun to a dark time.

"People can be fun loving people and still protest."
