A high-resolution photograph of the interior of a fully refurbished Central Line train carriage on the London Underground. The train is well-lit, clean, and empty, showing the new blue and grey patterned seating, modern handrails, and a wide perspective down the carriage. The image captures the modernised environment typical of the extensive upgrade and renewal programme for the Central Line, celebrating its 125th anniversary. A page from the Transport for London (TfL) Commissioner's Report showing updates on bus services, including the new Bakerloop BL1 Superloop route, which runs between Waterloo and Lewisham. A photo features Mayor Sadiq Khan and TfL representatives standing in front of a branded Bakerloop bus. Highlighted in the report are the refurbishment of 735 New Routemaster buses, the introduction of new electric double-deck buses on route SL5, and a milestone of over 2,500 zero-emission buses now in the fleet. The page also mentions ongoing Superloop consultations, with several new routes confirmed or proposed. The image shows a page from a report with a structured, multi-column layout containing text and section headings. On the left side, a sidebar titled "Page 54" runs vertically and lists topics such as "Car Free Day," "This is Oxford Street Week," and other updates. The central and right sections feature content under headings including "Major projects," "Piccadilly Line upgrade," and "DLR." A blue box on the right displays the number "1,444", referring to responses received for a consultation on the proposed DLR extension. The page also outlines progress on projects such as the DLR to Thamesmead extension, improvements at Gallows Corner, and the Connected London programme. Each section provides details on current initiatives, planned works, and upgrades across transport and infrastructure. The image is a slide presenting financial data. On the left, a blue section titled "Our progress" outlines financial performance, noting a 3% increase in total revenue and a 4% rise in passenger income compared to the previous year. Advertising revenue is up by 12%, and the text highlights ongoing efforts to offset inflation through a savings programme. On the right, two bar charts illustrate financial trends. The first, titled "Grow and diversify our revenue", shows income in millions of pounds from 2021/22 through to the 2025/26 budget, broken down into revenue grants, road and tunnel income, other operating income, and passenger income. The second chart, "Deliver recurring cost savings", compares like-for-like costs in billions of pounds over the same period, showing both nominal and real terms. A horizontal note clarifies that extraordinary government funding is excluded from the figures. At the bottom of the page is the phrase “A strong, green heartbeat for London”, with a white logo in the bottom-right corner.

A 2010 Transport for London webpage outlined the New Bus for London, inspired by the Routemaster, with improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and enhanced accessibility. It carried 87 passengers, had three doors, two staircases, an open rear platform, and was for busy central London routes.
The image is a screenshot from the Transport for London website from 2010, featuring information about a new bus for London. At the top, there’s a navigation bar with options such as Home, Live travel news, Getting around, Tickets, and more. Below, the page title reads “A New Bus for London,” followed by descriptive text about the new bus project. A photo on the right shows a red double-decker bus labelled “23” inside a garage or warehouse setting. The left sidebar highlights links such as “Corporate,” “Projects and schemes,” and “A New Bus for London.” Below the main text, sections like “On this page” feature navigational links to different parts of the page, such as “About the bus” and “Contact us.” The “About the bus” section provides details on design, environmental technology, accessibility, iBus displays, hop-on hop-off services, comfort, and staffing. The image is a document with the Transport for London logo at the top right, featuring a circular blue design. The header, “Transport for London,” appears in blue text at the top left. Below, the title “More information about the New Bus for London” is bold and centred. The document outlines details about the new bus, including sections on dimensions, capacity, staircases, doors, windows, lighting, and accessibility. Each section is bolded and followed by descriptive text. At the bottom left, the text “MAYOR OF LONDON” is in blue. The image is a document containing several paragraphs of text in a clear, black font. The content is organised under headings in bold, including “Platform,” “Environmental technology,” “Cost,” and “Number of buses entering service.” Each section provides information on specific aspects of a new hybrid bus initiative. Bullet points are used in the “Environmental technology” section to highlight reductions in emissions and noise levels. The overall design is simple and focused on delivering detailed written information. The image displays four views of a red double-decker New Routemaster bus with a sleek, modern design. In the top section, there is a front view on the left and a side view on the right. The front view shows a circular front with a digital display at the top. The side view reveals a smooth, continuous shape with large black-tinted windows on both decks, and a distinctive sloping stripe pattern near the rear. Below, the bottom section shows the rear view on the left and another side view on the right. The rear view has a similar circular shape with a digital display. The side view mirrors the one above, showcasing a uniform row of windows and two black wheels.

Transport for London has published the Bus Service Planning Guidelines - November 2024.
These guidelines optimise the network to meet the needs of Londoners, supporting the Mayor's goal of 80% of trips by walking, cycling, or public transport by 2041.

This document outlines London's bus service provision strategy, detailing partner roles and service planning principles. Transport for London (TfL) plans and tenders routes, sets fares, and leads safety and air quality initiatives. The strategy emphasises a customer-focused approach, aiming for an inclusive, reliable, frequent, and easy-to-use network integrated with other transport modes. Collaboration with operators, boroughs, local authorities, and stakeholders (including passengers) is crucial for delivering an effective and sustainable bus service, supporting the Mayor's Transport Strategy. The ultimate goal is for 80% of Londoners' journeys to be made by walking, cycling, or public transport by 2041. This infographic highlights the importance of buses in London, showcasing impressive statistics about their reach and usage. It states that 96% of Londoners live within 400 metres of a bus stop, and 99% within 600 metres, with around 65% using the bus network weekly, resulting in 5.8 million daily boardings. The network comprises over 600 routes, with buses travelling over 450 million kilometres annually, and around 94% of bus stops and 100% of the fleet are accessible. Buses contribute to walking journeys (over 20% of walking trips connect to bus journeys), can carry up to 87 passengers (equivalent to 2-3 cars), and operate on 81% of borough highways. Reliability has significantly improved, with excess wait times down by nearly 50% since 2000. The ultimate goal is to have a zero-emission bus fleet by 2034. This document outlines the "Inclusive Network" objective for London's bus service planning, aiming to create an accessible network for all Londoners. It emphasises providing services within 400 metres of homes in areas with demand and suitable access, while considering accessibility for people with protected characteristics, access to connecting services, and environmental conditions. The plan highlights the need for step-free interchanges, particularly at town centres and transport hubs, with potential 24-hour operation based on demand. Supporting measures include improving infrastructure for accessible bus stops and ramps, alongside a fully accessible fleet. Equality impact assessments, including a "night test" for women's safety, ensure changes do not disproportionately affect vulnerable groups and maximise opportunities for all Londoners, including those with protected characteristics and marginalised groups. This diagram illustrates how road conditions can impact a bus route scheduled to run every 10 minutes. The route, shown with arrows indicating buses travelling in both directions between two termini, is designed with a 10-minute headway. However, various factors can cause deviations from this schedule. Green sections highlight areas where buses might gain time, such as using bus lanes, resulting in a "-1 minute" change. Conversely, red sections indicate potential delays due to roadworks or congestion, leading to "+1 minute", "+2 minutes", or even "-2 minutes" variations in the schedule. The diagram visually represents how these fluctuations affect the consistent 10-minute intervals between buses, highlighting the challenges of maintaining a precise schedule in real-world traffic conditions.
