“Luxury building” is just a marketing term. There’s really not much added luxury to them. Just usually higher rents. But having rent stabilized or rent to own units should be much more common across North America
Just want to remind everyone that most car trips in America are under 6 miles. While lacking public transit is an issue, the bigger problem is our atrocious zoning.
While we need to be building more housing we also need to be pairing it with policy that ensures that prices stay low. But also protect tenants rights.
There’s this weird myth that just building more housing will lower rents

The problem with that line of thinking is that it assumes renters will want to compete with eachother and not collude on rental prices
Shoutout to everyone in the naked bike ride today! Saw y’all from work!
Im streaming tonight at 4 pacific!
Yea no I don’t wanna keep the ratcheting effect going towards fascism
From the Portland neighborhood that every right wing grifter uses for their propaganda. So dangerous that families are walking with their kids! And commuters are heading home from work! Scary stuff!
The Republicans are just out and about fascists

Democrats are bad because they do not give a flying fuck about their constituents demands and will do less than the bare minimum to protect their rights or secure any minimal amount of social safety nets. Also they don’t learn from their losses.
How did Portland and Minneapolis start getting people to cycle more?

Simple! They utilized modal filters and created neighborhood greenways. Not only prioritizing pedestrians and bikes but also reducing rat running on side streets.

More cities need modal filters!
We in America are often taught that insane reactionary ideology is just the standard.

While most of the time we think of the depraved evil doings of groups like ICE or the lack of social safety nets we have. Car dependency is another one of these reactionary ideals.
Fascism is a death cult and allowing it to exist is a crime.
Taking at least 1 trip a day without your car is the least you can do to fight car dependency.
Big reminder that sports teams do not generate enough revenue or create enough good jobs for your city to be shelling out billions on their new stadium.
Also fun fact I used to live kind of near that exit in st Augustine Florida
“A pedestrian plaza? No thanks! I’ll take my shopping center with a Buc-ee’s, Costco and Bass Pro Shop!
I was a tad bit busy today. More stuff coming later this week!
This week from Today the 29th to the 5th is the annual week without driving. It’s a really great experience to see how not driving is in your community and i highly recommend trying it out to see how easy (or how difficult) it is in your community.
Good chance it’s the narrower lanes and traffic calming
This street also does carry cars. The train has its own lane and priority when it comes to the signaling at lights.
