Clayton Hall Living History Museum and the Friends of Clayton Park express our deepest condolences following the tragic events at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur. At this most sacred moment in the Jewish calendar, our thoughts and prayers are with those victims who have lost their lives, those injured or affected, their loved ones, and Jewish communities in Greater Manchester, and far beyond. Antisemitism, along with every form of hatred, must be confronted wherever it is found. Together, we must stand firm to ensure that violence and intolerance have no place in our society.

A huge thank you to Manchester City Council and local Councillors, and the brilliant Warden Construction Ltd for all their help and support in securing the Hall’s future.

It's #InternationalCatDay! 🐱 Meet Luna, our neighbour's cat, though she fancies herself the lady of the manor.

In Tudor times, cats were used for pest control, guarding grain stores from rodents and keeping homes clean. Less pampered than lapdogs, but vital for survival.

Today marks 80 years since the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Up to 250,000 people, mostly civilians, were killed, and countless others suffered from radiation. Luckily, to date, nuclear weapons have never been used in war since.

Survivors have one message: never again.
