As a rule I am more inclined toward the old @themountaingoats.bsky.social catalog over their newer stuff but have been really enjoying COLD AT NIGHT.

Only rise and fall as the angles allow
Finally make a break for the surface"

Dispatch from this morning/afternoon in East Side, with @samjcharles.bsky.social and photos by Terrence A. James
Chaos at 105th Street and Avenue N. A couple bricks and possibly an egg got thrown at a squad of federal agents who were standing in the intersection. Two cars — a white SUV and a red one — got trucked out after a chase and a crash, per neighbors. At least three detained from this confrontation.
One guy scooped a spent can up in a baseball hat — said he teaches high school science and planned to use it in a lesson.
Bunch of CPD (13 per dept. statement) were out there, none with gas masks. Several looked pretty uncomfortable following the gas deployment. Had not seen the "muzzle blast" type of chemical crowd control yet.

....Driving along
with your hand out squeezing the air,
a meadowlark waiting on every post.

Behind a shelterbelt of cedars,
top-deep in hollyhocks, pollen and bees,
a pickup kicks its fenders off
and settles back to read the clouds.

So This Is Nebraska
You feel like that; you feel like letting your tires go flat, like letting the mice build a nest in your muffler, like being no more than a truck in the weeds, clucking with chickens or sticky with ho...

I’m not talking about the kind of thing you can photograph or advertise, though goodness knows religious imagery has been a major part of the wave of protest and dissent we’re seeing at the moment. It’s just this background thing that runs alongside everything else that’s going on.
Something sort of interesting I’ve noticed is that this conviction has followed me almost everywhere since I’ve started covering violence and its responses and preventative measures intensively. Doesn’t matter where — a street corner or a village hall or a parking lot.
Thompson and almost everyone I spoke to around her are really serious about their faith, and the idea that there is something holding them even when things feel chaotic and unstable.

Hey Ms. Sheridan. Sounds like a really stressful week for you. Are you willing to send me an email at [email protected]?
Mayor Thompson adjourns the meeting. I have covered hundreds of local government meetings and don’t think I have ever covered one with that much singing.
Encourages love over hate and says protesters get to go home at the end of the day, without the “drama and trauma” of an ICE facility in their hometowns.
Says she tried to visit the processing center and meet with Noem and was told she was unavailable. And reaffirms her commitment to 1A rights but says she has to balance those rights with well-being of Broadview residents.
On Friday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem tried to visit village hall, claiming she needed to use the bathroom.

“I’ve never known a public official to bring a photographer, videographer to a bathroom break.”
Mayor Thompson is addressing the comments.
On the “crisis of leadership” brought up by the first commenter, she says she needs to get her facts right. Then says she is here to be the messenger of love and kindness.
Thanks the police dept. for “doing a good job for this community.”
