Awesome! High cirrus clouds in the sky tonight. With the moon shining brightly we're getting a bit of #iridescence from the light diffracting off the ice in the clouds! Also known as a #LunarCorona. Really neat shot!

The Halloween Blizzard of 1991 over Minnesota saw some places with 1-2 feet of snow and 50 mph wind gusts. This is what it did. Freezing rain created ice 2" think in spots further south... topping trees and powerlines. How do you remember that Halloween? #MNWX

The one no one will ever forget. #Halloween 1991. a major ice storm across IA into southern MN and eventually snow... in some cases a 1-2ft of snow & a blizzard towards the Twin Cities! Up to 2" of freezing rain fell and in 50 mph winds, powerlines and trees toppled. #IAWX #MNWX

Forks aren't gonna like this forecast. Chill in the air Saturday morning tailgating at JTS. Temps in the 30s. Wind chill in the 20s. Can't rule out a stray shower. Kickoff for Arizona State vs Iowa State is 43, modest warming thru the 4th. *IF* there's sun, it looks most likely in the 4th quarter.

On this day in 2019, up to 4" of snow fell in eastern Iowa. The Des Moines area saw 1-2" of snow making the seasons clash for a gorgeous photo op.

A look inside the eye of #Hurricane #Melissa early Tuesday morning before making landfall in #Jamaica. It is *AMAZING* to me that we can see the whitecap waves in the ocean through the eye of a hurricane from space. We've come a long ways in satellite technology.

You will notice that wind kicking up tonight into Wednesday morning. Especially over western Iowa where gusts could reach 50 mph. Not as potent further east but still enough to make you pay attention behind the wheel. Wind most potent between 12-6 AM. #IAWX

Here's your #Fastcast for central Iowa. We're about half way through our rain. A light soak continues overnight with an additional 1/2" of rain for most from 6PM Tuesday through 8AM on Wednesday. Some will rise over 1" total.

We're about half way through our soak. Persistent light and at times moderate rain will continue overnight before wrapping up by 8 AM. Totals have ranged so far with the heaviest in western Iowa. Around 1/2" for most yet to go. Some will push over 1" by the end. #IAWX #DSM

A look outside over Kingston Harbor, Jamaica this Tuesday afternoon as Hurricane Melissa moves off the island. Wind is certainly strong but and heavy rains, but this isn't not the side of the island hit the hardest. Still... not a look outside many would want to mess with.

Hurricane Melissa is now the 3rd strongest hurricane on record in the Atlantic in terms of pressure with a low of 892mb. Sustained winds are at 185 mph as this one makes landfall any moment. Gusts are over 200 mph. Catastrophic, life altering destruction is expected, along with loss of life.

Fire north of Swea City in northern Iowa on Sunday afternoon. Dry air and dry conditions with a bit of a breeze helped take this fire uncontrolled quickly.

I hear multiple farmers helped fight the blaze disking fire breaks along with the help of volunteer firefighters.

Snow is back at it at elevation in Colorado! A portion of I70 is closed Monday evening near Loveland Pass and the Eisenhower Tunnel due to safety concerns with Winter Weather. That doesn't look fun to be stuck in.
