The Ryder Cup this year is a great example of this mad thing about spectator sports, where hurling abuse at players is seen as totally acceptable. Why?

Pantomime banter, jabs in good spirit, sure. But why do sportspeople have to put up with genuine hate and abuse? It’s sport. Grow up.
