So excited to have my flash fiction, Seven Days of Bleeding, included in this gorgeous issue!
The new issue is out! These are stories of opposites, of contradictions. Of transitions and unexpected guests. Most of all, they are stories of courage in the face of uncertainties. We need stories like this.

A veritable smorgasbord of genres this week.

3:10 to Yuma definitely the stand out, but French Kiss also delightful. Honestly, Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline are perfection.

Envy is knowing that there are people who have already seen Hamnet, Wake Up Dead Man, and One Battle After Another.

Another great week of movies, with a first time Hitchcock, a perfectly charming Paddington film & a rewatch of Sicario, which is was very rewarding...

But the highlight was definitely seeing Jaws on the big screen! A perfect experience!

Criterion Channel coming through this week with some brilliant first watches!

These films are full of fascinating characters who just loom across the screen with their charm and their tragedy, and such specific world building for each.

Four new watches this week for once! Found something to admire in each of them.

War of the Roses was an especial surprise--curious to see what the new film will bring to the table because the dark comedy of the original is undeniable.

When posters align 😍

2 comedy capers rewatches to prep for a screenplay revision;
A nostalgic rewatch of a charming rom com;
& another notch in the 'sis & I make it a year of Benicio del Toro' - fantastic performances & a tone I really vibed with

I just watched Contact for the first time last month & was absolutely won over by it. Already looking forward to the inevitable rewatch ☺️
A fantastic week of movies!

Lily Gladstone was mesmerizing in Certain Women
Bringing Up Baby is a forever favourite
Life Aquatic brought a surprising gut punch at the end
Could not get enough of Greta Garbo & John Barrymore in Grand Hotel!

Watched Contact with sis & it might be the best encapsulation of a 'we don't make 'em like we used to'

Big, bold popcorn spectacle deeply invested in the human heart

Nothing too philosophically grand or convoluted. Just good simple storytelling wrapped in genre with stellar performances

No, because God forbid we just make a cool movie.
Kevin Feige says there’s been 4 versions of ‘BLADE’ and they’ve finally decided on a take set in modern day.

“We didn’t [just] want to put a leather outfit on him and have him start killing vampires”

Congrats! Love the sound of it!
Congrats! Super intrigued by the title 🤩
Sis & I made the quarterfinals of Page Awards with our gothic horror screenplay 🤩

Can't explain how much we love this one! Perfect for fans of The Wolfman (2010) & Crimson Peak!

The charm of 90s movies is unparalleled!

Newest discovery is Excess Baggage with Alicia Silverstone & Benicio del Toro [thanks to sis & I doing a deep dive into his filmography]

A perfectly imperfect film that is one fun, silly romp with more personality than so many modern rom coms.

An ideal movie week.

Roman Holiday is a top ten film for me with a final scene that gets me every time.

Interstellar is one I'm kicking myself for not seeing on the biggest screen possible - here's hoping on a 15th anniversary rerelease in 2029.

Romance July in (unintentional) full swing over here.

Ashamed how long it took to watch Love & Basketball. A perfect film!

I love how inadvertently watching 4 Benicio del Toro films in June means that sis & I are determined to make him our actor of the year. It's actually embarrassing how little we've seen of his filmography.

Ah, the kinder side of kismet.

A great week of movies over here with a blend of old & new, but watching five movies means Paper Moon just got pushed off the list, so cheating & throwing it on because it's a perfect gem I can't believe it took me this long to watch!

Holding onto this banger line from the one, the only, Samwise Gamgee today:

"But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer."
Been a while since I revisited this stunning film! A haunting gothic piece that one can choose to simply vibe with, or dive into for all it has to offer by way of contemplation.
