When I was very young I was fascinated with the suits in a deck of playing cards. They seemed so exotic and mysterious!

Yes but there's a strange... nostalgia (?) associated with this color pallette. Maybe it's a Gen X thing. The trick as an artist is to show other people what they make you think of, and how.

Thank you to David Lynch and Jack Nance, without whom we wouldn't have 1977's Eraserhead. Profoundly dark and disturbing but a brilliant work of art. Lynch remains a huge influence on me to this day.

I read that during process of filming Eraserhead it took a maddening amount of time and effort to get Jack Nance's hair to do that. Same here.
